Crazy inlaws....

So yesterday DH's dad and his stepmom came into town from Florida. They are very nice people but extremely frustrating to be around. His dad is well a complete moron. I think that if he was the only person on earth he would start argueing/debating with inanimate objects and still lose! He has absolutely no sense of logic and he questions everything EVERYTHING!!! It is highly annoying and you find yourself strongly resisting the urge to simultaneously roll your eyes, smack your hand and throttle him. His wife is Bulgarian. She is very sweet and well meaning, but she is also very pushy. I'I think perhaps because she stumbles over words and struggles sometime to get her point across that I give her a lot of leeway when she says/does certain things. However, tonight she TOOK THE CAKE. I let Meri stay up just a wee bit later since they are leaving tomorrow. I gave her her bath and was trying to get her in her pj's and she's there hovering over me the whole time and just riling meri up, making her laugh and generally setting her up to NOT be happy to go to bed. I figure no big deal, she'll cry a little, then calm down. Its their last night(mantra repeated over and over in my head). So I put Meri down, turn off the lights and close the door. And of course she starts to cry. I start picking up the tornado of toys around the house. Meri is still crying, but starting to calm down. THen all the sudden I hear knocking. I'm thinking who the heck is at our door, the dog starts barking and going crazy, Meri starts SCREAMING. Yet no one is at the door. Then I realize it was the step MIL, she thought it would be a good idea to KNOCK on Meri's door!!! Huh? Seriously? Of course Meri is PISSED at this point! DH takes the dog out to calm him down. I am PISSED and she senses it. She starts apologizing left and right. I concede, tell her its ok. But kindly tell her that you have to ignore her or she will get mad. Meri calms down after a bit. I mean I know she in her head thought it was helping, but seriously, knock on her door? DH told her jokingly, yeah she really likes it when you taunt her by knocking on her door letting her know that you are up and she is NOT! After they left we had a really good laugh about it!
I can't hold a grudge, they're just too weird....

I can totally relate!! I swear my in-laws do things just to get under my skin and my FIL will argue with anyone about anything and he is ALWAYS RIGHT!! I can prove him wrong and he will still say he is right. I could tell you some stories about in-laws...I think I have the worst in history!! Mine are just strange, rude, gossipy and vindictive as all get out!! I told my husband it is a good thing I love him so much because I cannot stand his family LOL

lol, I know I could have it A LOT worse! I'm just so thankful they live in Florida and we see them only about 2 times a year.

LOL, knocking on the door? What did she think Meri would do?

Yeah your mil deserves an award LOL I wonder what in the world would possess her to think that is okay LOL I woulda been pretty pissy too!

I can sympathize - sometimes I think the same about my hubby. no matter what I say about anything, HE is right.
