So today we were sitting around visiting company, and DH went into the bathroom to get clippers. He comes running out and through the kitchen and I was like "Whats wrong??". He threw open our back porch curtains, and this is what we saw:

Thankfully the family is out safe and so are their dogs (outdoor dogs). But it was still freaky & scary. This house is literally right across the back alley from us. We didn't smell smoke because the wind was blowing it away from us. We didn't even know there was a fire until DH heard a crackling sound when he went into the bathroom and then saw billowing black smoke. It was actually really strange because our lights had been flickering for about 5 minutes, and we were wondering why they were doing that, and then we heard sirens, but never thought to look out our back door!

Anyways, that was our excitement of the day (not that a house burning is exciting, but you kwim...)!

Wow. That really makes me sick :( There have been so many house fires this winter. We've had 2 in our town in the last week alone, and they weren't little ones....clear to the ground.

They were lucky everyone was ok. My niece and nephew died in a house fire almost 17 years ago. It was/still is very painful. Its one of my absolute worst fears now.

Oh my goodness! I am SO sorry for your loss! I can imagine that it would still be a painful memory, even 17 years later! HUGS!
