Okay...lets say you lost a sippy cup...and you found it say a week or two or longer later...

Do you open it to see how bad it is? Or do you toss it?

I'm just curious.

Maybe out of some sort of wierd, gross curiosity...

I always open it to see HOW gross it is...and then toss or wash depending. Even if it's been over a month...I always open it!

If I know the lost cup had milk in it, it just goes straight to the outside trash. Also though, I have a SUPER bad gag reflex, and usually I don't particularly feel like vomiting that day, so it's just easier to throw it out. LOL

it's never happened here *knock on wood* but I'd just toss it.

Depends if I knew what was in it.

Actually all of my sippy's are see-through so I can get a glimpse of how disgusting without opening. If it's even remotely gross - in the trash it goes.

i would open it far from my nose run hot water in it for several minutes followed by too much dishwashing liquid then run it in the dishwasher and pray for the best. :p

I always check. Those suckers aren't cheap! And I almost always keep them. I have little bottle brushes and I go to town on them with lots of soap and very hot water followed by a run through the dishwasher...

Hmmmm...idk. Depends on the day and my curiosity level. Today I'd probably open it... :p

So Amy, has this happened lately???

Thankfully, we are mostly out of the sippy cup stage...but last year there were several episodes of having to open a questionable sippy cup....like ones that got left in the car..in July, for example. If it was just the translucent plastic kind I tossed it, but when it was the nice playtex kind I emptied it outside and soaked the parts in a bleach solution, then ran it through the dishwasher.

I try to see if I can clean it. My kids have those Munchkin cups with the straws, and they are close to $10 a pop, so yeah, I try to clean it. Use bleach if I have to! If it's milk, I'll usually look, but they almost always end up in the trash because they're so nasty.

We have the same rule. No milk in the living room OR in the carseat. I could learn you a lesson about milk and carseats and summertime...but I won't go there, not right now...

I would probably toss it unless it was a "special" cup otherwise out it goes!!!

We drink lots of water here, so I'd toss if I knew it was milk or juice but open if there was a chance of it being water.

Yep, that's pretty nasty. Not as nasty as a 5lb pack of ground round left in the trunk for about 3 weeks, but nasty. (and no, I didn't do that...but mom did)

My kiddo only drink juice on his sippy cops, and I use the clear cheap ones, so if is remotly gross I throw it away... but usually are not

Unfortunately I could too. In the very back of my Tahoe a lonely sippy was left in the heat for at least a week, if not more.... I think I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Every now and then I still get a whiff even after cleaning the carpet multiple times by a professional. Blech........

Oh and to answer the original question.... they definitely get tossed.

I keep a careful eye on sippy cups with milk. After too many yucky cups and too many spills, I've learned my lesson! I like to keep those in the kitchen. We don't drink juice very often. So mostly our lost cups just have water in them. We just wash them.
