'24' Question - ATTN: Nikki, Meg, Kellie

I've caught bits and pieces of '24,' but never a whole episode, so bear with me. :)

I realize the premise of the show is each ep is a literal hour which would make me believe that they have 24 eps, give or take, in a season so that the whole season makes up one day, right?

Are these seasons back to back days? From what I've seen, they seem like pretty intense kidnapping-agent-spy-destruction-disease kind of shows. Do all of these things happen back to back to back so that Seasons 1 through the current season is pretty much the most horrific week in the history of the planet or does it vary season to season so that Season 2's day might take place a few weeks (or months or years) after Season 1? Is there a suspension of logic that all these horrible things could happen simultaneously or do the writers give you some 'breathing room' from season to season that's covered in backstory or flashback?

For some reason, I've just been dying to know the answer to this.

No there are actually 1-3 year periods between each "day". We were just talking the other day about how many years have passed on the show versus the 7 years since it premiered. Yeah...that would be a really bad week for Jack lol..

They don't really seem to cover the 'in-between' stories much (or maybe I just can't keep up!), there was a prequel to the newest series and a computer game set in between series 2 and 3 (I think).

Yah since season 1 I think we're on the 4th presidential term..so that makes it the 13th year...wow Jack ages well lol

Sometimes you can catch what went on in a flashback..I HIGHLY recommend watching the past seasons on DVD first..they have said things from previous seasons already (like Tony yelling to Jack about the previous president being a traitor to his country, etc)

here's a previous post about the presidents...sadly i know too much about TV lol

When we first started watching 24, we rented the entire first 3 seasons (or however many there were to get us caught up) and that's all we did for 2 weeks!! And then when the show was canceled last year, we were in withdrawal! LOL

The season airing now, was SUPPOSED to air in jan 08 but with the guild strike then keifer's jailtime they didn't get to finish filming the last couple episodes so they had to wait til later to finish then air the season..hence this was a rather long break for 24 watchers..we waited over a year and a half for this season! lol..Normally it's what 6 months?

Yeah- it is usually about a 6 month break in between seasons. The first season was 7 years ago. The first few seasons did not run nonstop like it does now. They started in the fall and took the winter break. I like the way it is now with an episode (almost) every week.

24 has been with me through 2 different bed rests and births. Jack and I have a special bond.

I'm always so jealous of people who've never seen the show and can watch them one after the other on DVD lol...DH and I started watching it way back when and we've had to wait week/week and then season to season lol. We have them all on DVD though and I've gone back and watched all the seasons a couple of times...if you've never watched them all then you really should they are awesome..

Yeah, you definitely need to buy the seasons on DVD. When we buy a season, all we do for a couple days is watch it! hehe... so addicting. Best show EVA.

Oh yeah, if you've not seen the other seasons, you really need to go back and watch them....most of them were awesome--Love me some Jack Bauer and what could be better then having Tony Alemeda back and having him partner with Jack, so lovin' this season so far!!!!!! I really missed Tony, if they ever decided to kill off Jack , he could easily be the lead in this show.

My husband won't watch it with me anymore; he says it's too intense. :( I miss Kiefer, but occasionally I still turn on YG2 and revel in his great beauty.

Me, DH and 2 of my kids are totally addicted to the show...We can't wait until the next episode, we are like giddy little kids. I started watching it during season 2 and if and when the show ever gets canceled I WILL cry.........
