Oh so sorry...hope you don't get it! How is it transferred? I'd just wash my hands like a thousand times lol
When I was teaching it used to infuriate me when parents would knowingly send their kids to school sick. I was always coming down with something and it would make it's way through the entire class. The worst was when I got strep throat from a kid I had to have sent home the day before b/c he was sick with it. UGH.
It's amazing how little I get sick now that I stay at home lol.

I am one of the rares moms that will keep the kids home at the first sign of any sickness - because they are always bringing germs home to me and I hate it, so why would I do it to someone else? Seriously, I understand if you can't stay home due to work, but around here, most of the moms are SAHMs!
Hope you manage to escape the dreaded pink eye Jenny!!

That really does stink, when kids have eyes of pink.
Parents: tsk tsk tsk, why put others at risk?
To get us to watch their kids, they try...
Hey Jenny, is that a little pink in your eye?

LOLOL Sir Mix a Lot is back! LOLOL
I hate pink eye. I have kept Benjamin home 1 1/2 days this week, he's got the same head cold I have, but I don't think it's fair for him to go in and give it to everyone else. It's obviously contagious since everyone here has it except Tony.
Stupid parents!

Seriousy I hate ignorant parents that know their kids are sick and send them anyway! I will send Mason if he's got the sniffles or a cough because he gets them ALL the time (low immune system still) but if it's anything more severe than that, I'd keep him home! Fevers, etc...he's home with me!

I keep Haley home at the first sign of anything just to be safe.
I hope pink eye stays away from you.. Pink eye sucks!

As a full time working parent, I understand not wanting to keep your kids home, however, pink eye is highly contagious and that was just careless on the parents part to send them to school *knowing* they had it. Hope you don't end up with it!

Totally agree here, I have a job where I cannot just stay home. We have a minimum manning and have to have a certain amount working, so if I stay home, someone else has to be called in on their day off or work a double shift from one of the other shifts. Thus I don't want to stay home for just a little cold, but pink eye, come on? Its highly contagious.

exactly!! Sniffles aren't necessarily a reason to keep your kid home. But pink eye is just soooooo contagious and nasty! When I called her to tell her to pick up her kid and that she can't send her kids to school with pink eye, the mother said, "Well, I made an appointment with the doctor...". I'm like, "uh, that doesn't matter lady. Scheduling a doctor's appointment doesn't magically make your kids all better!"
SHEESH!
Oh, and Sir Mix-A-Lot.... if I *do* get pink eye, you'd better believe I'm gonna come out there and rub my face on your pillow.

I hate pink eye more than you can ever know. I have "caught" it at least 5 times in my teaching career.
The last time was the most terrible. I had this kid that came in every day for a week with pink eye. Everyday I sent her home, the parents SWORE they took her to the doc. and then she'd return again the next day. I intentionally carried hand sanitizer, and when she left I clorox wiped her desk and chair.
I got the damn pink eye. It was a Monday morning when I woke up with my nasty eye. I called into work and then spent literally ALL day long at the urgent care. Came home, took the meds and there was NO sign of improvement. Tuesday morning my eye was WORSE than the day before. I called the doc who said I needed to give the meds a chance.
Wednesday, MY EYE WAS SWOLLEN SHUT. Called the doc again, told me I needed to give the meds a chance.
THURSDAY. WORSE than I could ever imagine!!! I finally went to his office driving with my one good eye and waited for that bastard. He freaked out and said, OMG!!! What happened to you? WTF? Turns out I had an allergic reaction to the meds.
Thrusday night my eye was clear.
Friday morning I go into work for the first time all week. I ended up having to leave because my eyes were so freakin' exhausted. It hurt to open my eye and attempt to focus on anything.
SO yeah, damn those evil parents!!!!

That was my parents...haha, they made me go to school no matter how sick I was. It was horrible, I only missed school three times, for my grandparents funerals. I got pink eye in 9th grade, from a kid at my church I think, and my parents sent me to school with it, whaaatever!
They're just crazy. No matter what grade I was in, they were like YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS SCHOOL. First grade, you know, you're missing so much then.
