I'm irritated

Some of you may remember that Amelia made a little "future stars" team in skating. We only skate here until the end of March, there are off season schools that she can go to for Spring, Summer and Fall, we'll get back on the ice here in October.

We are 3 1/2 hours from the City, where these take place. I am willing to go in on Fridays, have her skate Friday and Sunday (not Saturday, that's her ballet day). The only problem is, her level doesn't have a session on Fridays, but the next level up does. I emailed to request that she be placed on that session, to accommodate us, since we live so far away. Keep in mind, the child will not be working on her own, she'd be with me, and I'd make sure she wasn't in the way of the bigger kids. (they are 1 badge level ahead, not a huge difference)

We were told flat out no, and that she could skate 1 day a week on her regular session on Sundays. No way I'm driving 3 1/2 hours each direction for 1 hour on the ice! I understand the reasoning, but in the meantime, it's a little annoying. She would have a professional coach (me) during her entire session, not just for lessons, so it's not like she'd be wandering around being a nuisance.

I'm not mad, just disappointed I guess. She really wanted to go, we really wanted to make the effort, and they just shot us down. It'd be different if she was out there on her own, kwim? Poor kid. She just wants to skate and be good at it, and they want her to go to these things, but then I try to work around our long distance, and they can't help.

Sigh. She's going to be sad when I tell her this tomorrow.

Aww, here's hoping she takes it better than you expect. What a bummer though :( It doesn't make sense to me why they couldn't/wouldn't even be reasoned with... :glare:
