interceded on her behalf this morning, lol! She has a little bit of excema that isn't going away with eucerin and aquaphor...so this morning I call to see if I can get her an appt with the Ped and I ask for a Monday or Tuesday appt. I'm secretly hoping they'll just call something in and won't ask to see her at all--their office is always crowded and slow this time of year, understandably.
So the receptionist says, Well Aretha doesn't normally work today but she's here, and she only has two patients all day. Is there any way you can bring her in today?
Well, I was only going to town once today, first thing, to take Tristan to preschool. I said, "I'll be in town, but it will be in about 15 minutes". She said that was fine, to bring her on in.
So we get there and there is not a soul in the waiting room, we go straight back and I strip her down....and besides the excema, she's got a red rash all over her belly. The NP comes in and immediately asks if her throat was hurting. I said, no, she's fine, we're just here for excema. And she said, no, that looks like scarlett fever, the rash that comes with strep throat.
(And I'm still thinking...whatever, it's excema). Because I obviously know way more than a doctor, right?
So, she swabs her throat and sends it to the other room and we're just standing there, talking about the excema (which she DOES have as well) and the nurse pops her head in and says "whatever you swabbed is positive!"
So...yeah. Naomi has strep throat and scarlett fever and I totally wasn't even going to take her in today. She is totally acting fine. Isn't that weird?
