Wrecked my car. :(

I was headed home w/ the kids from their dentist appointment tonight. The guy next to me came into my lane and I swerved to avoid him. I went up on the curb, hit a storm drain. Both passenger side tires are flat, the rims are messed up and I did something to the underside of the car because it completely died and would not start. The guy that came into my lane did not stop. the person behind me stopped for like a second and said it was a good thing I had swerved, he most likely would have hit one of the kids head on. I filed the claim w/ my insurance so everything is covered, we just have to pay my deductible. But at least I will have a rental car. I'm stressed.

wow how awful. Did the guy who stopped get the license plate by any chance? That driver should be liable, and it would have been great if the driver who witnessed gave you their name!

I'm glad you are all ok!

I am glad you guys are ok.

What a jerk for not stopping! To me thats as bad as a hit and run.

OMG!!! I'm so glad to hear that you are ok. Watch yourself and the kids for the next few days, sometimes injuries don't show up right away.

(((HUGS))) That EXACT thing happened to us this summer, Sara - but we lost the car and were on the highway doing 70. I'm so glad you're unhurt and have a rental!

that same thing happened to my husband and me. He didnt move though and the guy just barely tapped the side of the car and didnt hurt our car.

No, no license plate, and the guy behind me stopped long enough to tell me that it was good that I swerved and then he was gone. I called the police and no one EVER came...I actually had someone pull up behind me and honk at me to move because he couldn't get over. My car was literally sitting at an angle, I'm not sure where he thought I could go. :cursing: I have a headache. :cursing:

Geez girl... glad y'all are okay.

And for the dude that honked, I'd have given him the one-finger salute and stuck my tongue out. LOL

Oh Sara! How frightening. I'm glad you and the kids are OK...but sheesh! What is wrong with people nowadays???? :cursing:

do you drive a ford? My husband said if you jarred the car enough you might have kicked the safety switch for the fuel pump and that could be why it wouldnt start

We're just going to buy new ones.. J needs a new seat anyways. Bah.

I'm glad to hear that! Just make sure you submit the receipts to your insurance. They might huff and puff a little, but any insurance company with even half a brain WILL cover the replacement seats.

OK well he said that it could very likely just be a fuel safety cutoff switch. If youre taking it to a shop Im sure they will find it though. He said what happens is if the car gets into an accident then the switch goes off and it will not send fuel to the motor and therefore it will not run.
yes, it's a ford escape.

So sorry that happened to you Sara. Glad that you are all ok. It just stinks when someone else causes an accident and then you have to deal with it. I've been there.

WOW! I'm glad you and the kids are okay Sara!!! Your insurance should cover the replacement of your car seats too!

Thanks y'all. I've calmed down some. Just can't focus enough to scrap. I had my camera with me so I'll post pictures of my tires tomorrow since that's all I took. LOL

Oh that's so scary... atleast like they said you swerved to avoid him hitting you. I couldn't imagine!

How awful, Giz! I'm really glad you guys are okay. I hope the ins co. gets it fixed and paid for sooner rather than later.

WOW! I'm so sorry Sara! I wish someone could have gotten a plate number for you! I'm so glad you or the kids were not hurt! And I guess it's a bonus that you work for an insurance company right about now huh? ;)
