Target bookshelves

I have the closetmaid wood ones (well...fiberboard lol) and I love them hehe...i use them as kraft storage

Mmhmm, I'm an Ikea girl through and through BECAUSE of an incident with Target furniture. We had a Target bookshelf fall completely apart like 3 feet away from Faith when she was a little tike. :glare:

Melissa - ours didn't even make it to the stand up stage before it cracked and fell apart, making it impossible to fix. And it's not because I'm stupid. Our house is FULL of put together bookshelves which I've done alone, and not a single one ever gave me this trouble before. stupid piece of #(*$&@()#&$ )(!@*)!(@#&(!@#* lol :mad::mad:

It'd be about 3.5 to 4 I think (trying to remember how long it took me to drive to your neck of the woods last time.

While I love Ikea, we have several Target bookshelves that have held up just fine (and they were cheap). Sorry that happened to you!

I have never been to an Ikea as there are none near us. Maybe that's good since then I don't know what I'm missing.

So sorry about bad Target bookshelves.

Hmmm...is IKEA worth the 200 mile drive? I got spoiled with the Houston store being only about 10 miles from home!

Yes it is! I drive to Chicago (about 5 hours from here) at least once a year to go to Ikea. That's seriously the main point of the trip. TOTALLY worth it.... :)

We have two of the cubicle style bookshelves (by Closetmaid I think) from Target in the girls room and they have held up surprisingly well in the year we've had them! We need to get a set for Kyle's room soon cause he's accumulating all sorts of boy toys lol. I wish we had Ikea here in Kansas though!

definitely  Ikea... but I also love me some Target (although, we have never tried Target furniture)

I think Target's "quality" has gone down over the years... about 10 years ago, we got a bunch of Target furniture, still have most of it. The coffee table warped though, and we got rid of it. Still have 2 endtables, i think I will paint them to give them a new look. Our entertainment unit is really beat up now, but survived 2 moves and kids. Dh wants a flat screen anyway though so we will probably get rid of it within the year. The bookshelves have all held up but they don't get heavy use, just sit there lol.

I don't think what is in the stores now is across the board as good as what we bought, except for stuff like closetmaid which is pretty decent and you can get that elsewhere.

We love IKEA though... they are opening a store in Charlotte this month, we plan to go in March once things calm down a bit!

I have an Ikea 5 minutes from me. We bought the twins' beds there and I had never before seen DH SO mad when he had to put them together. They have those panels that you have to fit into a groove and the groove wasn't big enough. And what was bad, when he finally got it done...he had to start all over on the 2nd bed! Yikes...I just stayed clear.

But I love it for many things...my DH got leather chairs there. We just aren't allowed to buy furniture with those panels and grooves anymore. :D
