Coming out of the closet

....and bathtub. Phew..what an adventure, right after bedtime. I'm hoping all of you in OK are safe, we averted any tornadoes, but had lots of fun weather, sirens and rotation. Now..to try to get to sleep with all the ruckus going on!

OK girls - check in!

ohhh scary!! We have never had a tornado at our house but we had one go through our yard a couple years back with one of the hurricanes that hit Florida. We were really lucky then because it hit just like four houses down and caused a whole lot of damage but here nothing. Hope everythings ok up there where you are. We have cdefenitely had some crazy weather lately all across the US

I live in Texoma and no tornadoes for us, just some high winds and lots of rain earlier. Glad you all are fine, hope others affected are ok too!

Gosh...I hadn't even heard. I don't want to know about it...I think of my son there in Texas...he should be back home here in California where all we have to worry about is an earthquake!! LOL!

Oh, glad you all are safe! Is that supposed to be it for the night, or are you expecting warnings through the night? Stay safe!!

It was nasty, but we're ok. Three storms in a row, all of them firing up around my stepkids' house, and passing a couple of miles from our house. We had alot of rain but thankfully the baseball-sized hail stayed to the west of us. The storms skipped over us and then came back down to our north, and destroyed some businesses and homes, but nobody was hurt here in the OKC area, according to the news.
DH did get home from work this morning with the news that an older lady he knows was killed last night in Lone Grove when a twister hit. At last count, 8 people had been killed there from the tornado that hit there last night, and nearly 50 injured, with 14 of those in serious/critical condition.

Nasty wind and rain here, but nothing severe. Thought we'd get hit hard like we did last year but thankfully we didn't.
Glad ya'll are ok!

Ugh! I am so sick I probably would have slept through the sirens if they went off!

Did you know that in KS somewhere they were talking about discontinuing the sirens because when they did go off, people were going outside to look for the tornado instead of taking cover! Crazy!

And that is one thing I do not like about our house, we do NOT have a interior room without windows. Our bathroom is on the ourside of the house (outside wall, inside the house) and ALL our rooms have TONS of windows. I grew up in Minnesota where we had basements but here with the red clay, they don't do basements. So where are we supposed to go? A guy was saying you could build a "storm shelter" in the floor of your garage but we park in our garage (crazy I know!). We do have a closet in the garage with a door that shuts. Do you think this is the best place? I could stock it with food/water/blankets and we could all fit in there, but again it is not in the center of the house. Although it is under the stairs.

Can you say I'm not glad to be back in Tornado Alley!!

Actually, there are storm shelters that can be built in garages, and you can still park inside. You can see a little pic of one here. I WISH we could have one...we live in OKC in a mobile home LOL...so anytime the sirens start blaring, we have to watch to see where the storm is and is going, and decide whether or not to hoof it to the underground shelter in our neighborhood. The last time I went underground, I had Rachel with me in her infant carrier (she was about 7 months), and one of my neighbors had her 2 yr old AND 6 week old triplets.

Thanks I will pass this along to DH. The one the guy was talking about you had to lay down in it too. Can you say claustrophobic!!

Glad to hear you're safe!
The high winds leftover from that same system are supposed to hit shortly here in Ohio - after the ice storm two weeks ago and the wind storm in September, we've already planned to lose some more trees.
