Gals... do you get anything for your DH/SO for Valentine's Day?

Dh and I never used to celebrate it at all (except to grab a couple beanie babies and chocolates for the kids) but now he's saying that he and DD have to go shopping for me tonight soooo I dunno if I should get him anything.

My Dh is getting 2 essays.
Maybe a massage if he's good.
I might get dinner out and some flowers, who knows.

Usually I get something but I told him not to get me anything this year. I'm going over to walmart after lunch and get something for the kids and I'll get him a card. But that's it.

I said Valentine's was consumerism. LOL!

Honestly, with our anniversary AND his birthday on 3/22, we tend to ignore Valentine's day or do some larger combined gift thing.

We think Vday is overrated but it is a good reason to make an effort to have a date since that is a rare occasion for us. DH finished his Bachelor's last Mar and since then had to study to make rank in the Air Force and has been pursuing his Masters and currently finishing course for the Air Force. So coupled with that and twin boys we don't get a lot of time together. So VDay reminds us to get a sitter and have a date!

And as far as presents, I always get DH a little something with a heart theme. -Past gifts have been:
-America Heart magnet for his car
-Heart towel
-underwear I embroidered on (the butt has some hearts on it with the word HERS on it...he loves these and still wears them)
-americana heart picture frame that has a photo of me in it from when I was in basic training
-wooden americana heart decor for our bedroom
-wooden heart collage frame
-wooden heart desk clock and I had a plaque made on the back that says "My love for you is timeless!"

This years gift is a heart-shaped puzzle that has a picture of us on it. I put it into a heart-shaped box and the inside says, I love you to pieces!

Mm, I pressed too many buttons... 0 instead of -

Anyhoo... DH is a maaaajor chocoholic so he may just end up with some badass candy and a card.

I get my dh a card, typically he gets me flowers and a card and a box of chocolates. We usually do a fancier dinner at home (steaks or something gourmet-ish). For the kids we do cards and a big heart shaped cake and have a "love" party - it's pretty fun.

I want to get something for him, but really don't know what yet :p

Not sure if I get something and if I do I think it might have something to do with chocolade ;)

My hubby won't even be here for Valentine's Day. That's the life of a trucker. So my boys will be my Valentines. I made cookies and may pick up something else for them.

I think we are going to take the kids bowling and then my in laws are actually coming over (they live 3 hours away) to watch the kids so we can go out to dinner and maybe a movie....My birthday was yesterday so it will be a combination celebration of both!!!

Wow, Aaron, diamond earrings!

We don't normally do anything, but my dh did something for me as I told you all a couple of weeks ago. Something with needing to pick up my son for a couple of hours from daycare and making sure he was dressed cute. I had planned on just getting him a water massage g/c and a thing of nicer coffee from our son. Probably stick with it cause I can't think of anything better. lol For our 2 year old, he is getting a fire truck we got on clearance after Christmas, its huge, and a cookie from Mrs Fields with his name on it.

I'm hoping for flowers. I usually get a card. Jordan will get a homemade card and possibly something else if I have time, lol.

We don't usually do much for v-day. Jeff will oftentimes get me flowers or chocolates or something from him and the boys. But since he works nights during the week, we don't usually have a date or anything. I never get him anything. He doesn't care.

This year we're actually going on a *gasp* date on Friday night! We're doing dinner and a movie while my parents watch the boys. Should be fun. We haven't be out just the two of us in a while.

As for the boys, I will get them a little gift or two for v-day. Stickers, candy, and maybe a cute shirt or toy.

I'm actually considering getting this for DH now! He doesn't wear "colonge", but he might do bodyspray! And when my man smells that good........ ((waggling eyebrows))

Ain't that the truth!

Seriously, there is just *something* about a man that smells good. Even Jeff's deodorant (which actually smells a lot like cologne) makes me perk up a little bit. lol

I think I'll have to check out the Axe stuff tomorrow at the store. Any scent suggestions?

Usually I get flowers, but I told him that we can't afford it and not to get me any. So I don't know. I usually get him something, but I'm not with it this year at all, and don't have anything. Slack wife!

ummm none of the above? lol I went shopping during my son's class at the high school... hardware store recommended a dremel router attachment (holds it upside down) and then I went to Target...came out with nothing but empty gift bags to hold the kids' t-shirts in. No idea! Even called my sister who works at Lowes to see if she had seen any neat gadgets come in...nope. Sigh.

Sign me...clueless...

I have some candy I bought (we both love candy) for my DH. WE don't really like cards. We'll go out for dinner next week or the week after, and I'm fine with that!

Since Valentine's is Billy's birthday he is spoiled rotten. He gets birthday gifts and Valentine's gifts. I already bought (and gave him) a set of Wusthof knives. He is also getting new boots and the boys bought him a set of stainless bowls. Romantic, huh?

He usually will have a small gift for me and flowers with a card. But this year my gift is the puppy I am getting in March. She will be 8 weeks when I get her.

His parents are keeping the boys Saturday so we can have the day and night to ourselves.

We'll be at my sister's house with the family for V-day so they are preparing a fondue dinner for all of us (kids included...should be interesting).

I got Jay some candy (bunch of different Reeses varieties since he loves PB) and a new pair of shorts and a card. He said last night that he has to go shopping, but who knows what he'll get. I usually get some candy, a card, a Starbucks GC and some kind of stuffed animal or gift basket.

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Never have.

HOWEVER, our anniversary is February 19th and we always celebrate that. This year, since MIL can't keep the kids the weekend of the 21st, we're celebrating our 10th anniversary this weekend. So technically, we're going out on VDay, but it's for our anniversary LOL!

We used to give a monkey or gorilla for Valentine's Day - the Zoo has an "Adoption" program and we get a picture of the monkey or gorilla when we donate money. But we haven't done it the last couple of years. Last year, DH says I got new appliances for the kitchen (our microwave/range died, so we ended up getting a new one and a matching stove/oven, and while we were at it we might as well get a new refrigerator). So this year it will just be cards exchanged, especially since our budget is tighter.

DH is anti-Valentine's Day, but I love it. He says that if he has to participate in a holiday created by the card companies, I will be getting flowers, chocolate, and a card every year. Fine with me! I get him a card and chocolate.

Last year he was very sweet. My then-4 year old said something about cards needing to have squiggly lines because that's all he could read. So DH made each of the kids a card with squiggly lines in addition to the text.

I get a card and a small gift usually. He gets me more :)
