Lets talk about: Photo Actions

Okay, I am addicted to photo actions. I've been using Pioneer Womans sets, and some others that I have found for free.

But I am ready to take the plunge into the really good ones. Does anyone have any suggestions....and examples???

I have lightroom, but I haven't delved too deep into presets for that. I still do about half of my post-processing in PS and I use PW's sets almost exclusively.

I'm *considering* buying itty-bitty actions....but I need some swaying or a better suggestion.

I haven't purchased any but I know some photographers that live by the MCP actions. http://mcpactions.com/

They also have a couple free ones.

I love Photoblast actions...I have a few that I use ALOT. I've been wanting to get an action to put some sparkle in the eyes...I've seen a few around lately, but I'm still debating.

If you have PSCS2 or higher and are looking to get REALLY good ones, then I recommend the Totally Rad Actions. They're pricey but totally worth it. I think I've used them on every photo since I got them. I don't even use anything else anymore. :thumbup:

I swoon over TRA!
I'm thinking of buying the Kubota Lightroom presets. I know lots of people use their various action packs for PS too.

Sign up for Nicole's newsletter. She almost always sends out a 10% coupon code with each newsletter, sometimes more. The more sets you buy, you get a discount, and then you can use the coupon code on top of that. Her actions are amazing, and they're set up so that you can easily tweak the final results.

I just bought two sets of Annie Mannings photo actions and they are gorgeous...a nice slow start into more expensive ones!!!

I meant to come back and mention Annie's! She always does quality work and her photos are generally gorgeous, so it's a great place to start!

I bought them, but I have to wait till I upgrade to CS4 in a week or so. I'm using PSE4 right now, and I don't think they work in Elements.

I'm planning on getting the Delight Presets and possibly some of her actions too (probably the bundle for $35). I also love Nichole Van's presets so I'll have to add those to the never ending wish list too!
