Makes me happy then to know I live in ND and we actually have a large surplus. (but bring up how I am freezing and its all warm and nice there and I won't say I am happy

Oh that is awful. I would be absolutely furious if I were a state employee for Kansas. Well, that and a little panicky too!!

We usually get a refund...guess when our tax man comes next week we will be estimating a lot closer for the upcoming year...what a bummer...I am not going to be happy when I hear the results. I just don't think this is right!
Our local schools keep tearing down buildings and building new schools...so our taxes seem to be going to building rather than updating technology and helping the kids get on the cutting edge with their education...well my kids are getting better here at home... they are now using laptops and their curriculum is on the computer... so I think they are getting a better education here than there (and it's challenging)... and if they need an advanced class when they become juniors/seniors... DeVry University is offering FREE credit classes (just pay for books) ... so they can take CAD or programming classes if they wish ... and we can afford it.
I'm a little miffed at the way taxes are being used around here...one of the cities created a walk through park with art sculptures and I remember reading in the paper it cost over a million dollars!! It's not easy to get to...and on a very busy street where no one probably even sees it as they whiz by at 45 miles (or more) per hour. That money could have been used to give people healthcare...or paid quite a few employees their salaries for years!!!
oh jeeshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think our governor needs to be closely scrutinized along with these mayors of the different cities that are beautifying at such high costs! Just my opinion...as my husband's company makes cut after cut after cut...
