Can I Vent...argh!

Ok so I have a seriously busy week, I am hosting a coffee for the ladies in the squadron and DS has soccer and I have a hair cut and on and on and on...

So this morning when I go to pay my Citibank credit card bill, I find a message saying that my account has been closed for security reasons and deactivated and to call customer service for more information. So I call....
THEY decided to "upgrade" me to a new card, without asking and cancelled my old one and I have to wait for the new one to come before I can use it! Seriously, I don't use cash much, I don't ever write checks unless its for bills since we are always moving and our address is wrong, and so I always use the credit card for purchases everywhere and then pay it off online every month. So now I have DAYS of no credit card and lots of running around and last minute purchases to make. Mostly I am just frustrated that they added to my stress level by saying it was a security issue, when really it just was them changing my card (and my card number) on me!!

Then to make a phone payment I had to void one of my checks that I have to pay for, instead of paying online which just uses the account number, and I can't even activate the account yet to check my statement that I paid!! I know this is just par for the course of big banks but seriously with all the problems they've had lately, you'd think they'd like to not p-o their customers like me who pay their bills and use their card a lot!

Ok rant over....I feel a little better...off to bake some brownies and clean a toilet (not at the same time of course LOL)!!!

It drives me insane when companies do this sh*t. If you're gonna cancel my card you better be damn well sure that the new one arrives FIRST.

This has happened to Jordan at least twice. If it ever happens to me I'm flipping the heck out on whatever poor customer service person answers my call. You don't effing cancel someone's credit card without notifying them!! :cursing:

Ugh, I had that happen to my bank card the first week we moved to Korea. I had NO warning at all - I was at the PX on the military base and they said it was declined. So not cool. The worst part was I wasn't even sure how long it'd take for mail to arrive at that point. Oh and I discovered they charged crazy fees for overseas use without any warning as well. I still have my account with that bank but it's only used on a rare occasion.

That sucks. I had something similar happen with CitiBank we just tranferred our balance, and closed our account. Now, I have USAA, and cannot say enough good things about them!

man!! crap like that really steams me too!! it just throws one off!! BIG HUGS!!! brownies...yuuuuuuuuuuuumm!!!

Well I've had this CC since I was in college, its in only my name and has good dividends, so that is why I've stuck with it. We also have a USAA one too together and USAA always goes above and beyond for their customers.

And yeah I know its not the CS person's fault personally, but seriously just saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" doesn't really cut it. Saying sorry without any change or meaning is just like saying "Whatever!"

ps Thanks Jami, I think I'm OK now, just really frustrated this morning with all that I've got going on.

Citibank just did something similar to me too...told me my card had been compromised, shut down all online access and made me wait for a new card and increased the APR (administrative costs, nothing they can do about it...right!). It's the only card I use, so it was a HUGE hassle. And now of course, I have returns to make from the old card and I'm not sure how it's going to work. I was wondering how many others were also affected. :( So sorry to hear about your situation too!! I'd close the account in a heartbeat if I kept a balance on it or the rewards system wasn't as awesome...gotta love plastic.
