Hey Manda.....

She may need some ideas if she's not part of the miltary, so if you want them...how about some ideas!!

Of course the Marine: Hoowah (ok so I don't know how to spell it so help me out)!

For any of them... Home is Where the *Air Force* Sends You (insert proper branch here)

Um....

Here Today...PSCing Tomorrow

Something always happens when they go TDY. (TAD for Marines right?)

Always in my thoughts and prayers.

Everyday Heroes.

Ok so that's all I could come up with, but like I said, if we give her ideas then she could run with it! But sometimes designers shy away from the military stuff because they don't know enough and don't want to get it wrong!

I'll add this to my list girls, thanks! Maybe a more heroes based set would be good, and if I can't find enough for each branch, maybe some smaller sets. :)

Also for the actual military member to use (not just wives) cause I know I am not the only one on the boards who is the member and maybe it could help me to actually scrap something military. lol Been in over 10 years and I have like 1 military page about me. :blink:

Marines pronounce it Oooah

Army (that's us lol) pronuce it Hooah.

I know this b/c when DH and I were first dating I mispronounced it "oorah" and you just don't do that if you're in the Army or so that's what he tells me :)

Oh, sprauncey1, those are some good ones!

According to wikipedia, here's the different spellings by branch:
Hooah - Army and I think Air Force too?
Oorah - The United States Marine Corps equivalent
Hooyah - The United States Navy equivalent

Also, this is something I used on a page before. It came from an Army Strong-Army Families video:

Sacrifice: the strength to put a nation of families above your own

On a more light-hearted note you could do something like:
Military life - never a dull moment
(or maybe I'm the only one that feels that way :D)

You could also include some generic titles like Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom

I love these...

He's not just my Daddy, He's my Hero
Home of the free, Because of the Brave
Who needs Ken when I have my own GI Joe?
My Daddy wears Combat Boots
Some of America's Bravest Heros are also Daddies (is that how you spell daddies? lol)

This is my favorite military quote and I can't wait to use it on a page with my husband and our little one (once the kid gets here).

By profession, I am a soldier and take pride in that fact. But I am prouder -- infinitely prouder -- to be a father.

Douglas Macarthur

I would love to see some Navy stuff too and would be at your disposal for any info you might need. LOL

Thanks Nikki!

Yeah we lived on a Marine base in Okinawa, and then were stationed at an Army base in Georgia and we are Air Force so you can see why I get confused!! I knew I'd get it wrong!

Actually in the Air Force we just yell, no actual special words or anything that I've heard. Great quotes too, I'm sure the ideas are appreciated!

HOw about my MOMMY wears combat boots.

Be sure you make mommy and daddy ones Manda. Dads aren't the only ones serving their country. I've been in 10 years almost and it drives me nuts that women aren't included in stuff like that.

People always think DH is the military member, no, its ME!!!

LOL!

FYI maybe not everyone in the Air Force is that way, but I know my squadron doesn't do the HORAH or anything of that.

WE always made fun of the Army and Marines that did it in Tech Training. LOL!

Army Wife: Sexually deprived for your freedom

LOL - I'm totally kidding...(well even though it's kind of true LMBO)

All this Hooah talk got me to looking up what it actually means b/c I knew that it pretty much means anything except no lol... here's what wikipedia says....

* Heard, Understood, and Acknowledged
* What to say when at a loss for words
* Good copy
* Roger, solid copy, good, great, message received, understood, acknowledged
* Glad to meet you, welcome
* All right!
* Thank you
* Go to the next slide
* You've taken the correct action
* Amen!
* Outstanding!
* To describe something big such as "I got to take a hooah deuce"
* A substitute for "that's cool". "That's hooah".
* To describe a hardcore soldier. "He's hooah".
* Uttered out loud at random and being continued by others. Like a pack of wolves howling, in order to boost morale.
* To describe Army Rangers. "The hooah-hooahs".
* Anything and everything except "no"
* Sarcastic remark for something ill regarded and specific to the Army. "This detail is about as hoo-ah as it gets."

Sounds about right...all I know is that I hear it constantly, especially if I'm with DH and his men for any period of time longer than 5 minutes lol.

Definitely font forget about women as you create them. Also, not all Marines (and other armed services) are Moms and Dads..... some are sons and daughters..... and in my case, it's my step-daughter!

ETA: I have pics of her with her recruiter..... pics from her leaving for boot camp.... pics from her graduation and some now that she is training at her MOS...... so anything to cover those kind of photographed events would be good, too.....
