Warranty BS

So, DH and I bought a really expensive boxspring and mattress set 3 years ago. The set had a 10 year warranty. So there are these huge dents on both sides of the bed. I called Sleepy's, that is where we bought it. They sent a guy out to inspect it. He took pictures and measure the dents. They were 2 inches deep. So the guy said that we should have no trouble getting a replacement. He said wait a week for him to make his report and call Sleepy's back. So I called today. They said there was a stain on the mattress which VOIDED THE WARRANTY. Wth???? It was a koolaid stain, bright red. It was about 3 inches in diameter. Damn sippy cups. How is that right?

That doesn't sound right... I would be LIVID... Is there a Manager or higher up you can talk to?

No luck today. I am going to try again tomorrow. But, yes, I was livid.

What on Earth does a stain have to do with it?

when you purchased your bed did you purchase the scotch guard protection stuff?

We went through this once, wanted to return our bed because it started sinking in. They told us they wouldn't because there was a stain (which really there wasn't much of one) ANYways my hubby got all upset and told the sears manager that we would never be doing business with them again and got all upset lol.. they ended up doing the exchange for us.

That sucks. I hate when people/warranties are like that. They make it impossible to return anything!

I think it is re-di-cu-lous. I am not really sure what a kool-aid stain has to do with a sink whole. I think I will pitch a decent fit when my kids are not around to hear it. I mean.. there are 7 of us who will need mattresses for a long time. Why would they not want our business???
I think they make warrantys like this so that we can't ever return anything after we use it. It is false advertising.

wow... does kool aid have a fine print that says "might cause sink holes"?? thats just rediculous. As if a stain has anything to do with it.
I hope they listen.

Tell them you are more than happy to get a replacement with a bright red marker spot in the middle to make everything even!

Don't give up. I bought something that was a final sale somewhere...and by continuing to go "up" the ladder...not just having them talk to a manager, but asking that the manager come talk to me, I was able to get them to return it. Be calm and very well spoken. They will try to bully you (very often the case), but don't back down!!
