It's been almost 2 years since I decided to put all of my paper scrapbooking stuff in a big lot on eBay & kiss it good bye!! Every since then, I have hunted the internet & downloaded all kinds of elements for digital scrapbooking. I organized stuff into folders & now I don't have a CLUE as to who made what? or where I even got some of it!! I just purchased my first kit this weekend...& i'm going to be sure to leave it all intact so i know exactly who made it!

My question is this... I know it's polite & definitely necessary to give people credit...buuut...?!! If I want to start an album or participate in challenges & don't have a clue who things came from...is that ok?! or can i not do that?! Can I add a disclosure saying that they of course are not mine!? heeelp! I want to be active!!! But I don't want to upload anything & "get in trouble" for not giving credit where credit is due!

any advice?

Then list it as something you don't have a credit for, and if someone recognizes it, I'm sure they'll let you know.

There's no unwritten LAW that states that you have to leave perfect credits for every layout. It is common courtesy to do so, though - so if you don't know who it's from, just state in your credit area that your elements are unknown.

LOL, I feel your pain. I would only post LOs on store galleries if I knew that the materials were from that store. Just in fairness to that store and their affiliated designers.

If you absolutely have no idea about who the creator is, then I would post on an 'open' board where people are able to post anything.

I start each folder with a store code(like SSD-kit name) so that I can keep track. Of course, sometimes, designers change stores too....

Yeah go ahead and use it and just say you don't know who made it. That is why I am glad 99% of designers (ones that sell) use their name in the description. Otherwise it would be a total mess for me!
