JJ just got one, and he's not able to play much, but he's trying. They're really for ages 4 and up.

Lance got his last year for his 3rd birthday. He was able to play the CARS games, PetPals, Letterpillar, Nemo, Diego Animal (don't remember the name) and Wall E. We have other games but they are geared for K-2nd.

For $10??? Aren't they like $50 normally?

YES! We paid 59.99 for ours at Christmas, and IT'S ALREADY BROKEN. (It did get dropped a couple of times, but STILL) So I was checking prices here, in Malaysia, and the FIRST leapster is, hold onto your seats, folks, $129. Yes, that's in US DOLLARS. Clearly we will not be replacing ours, though I'm gonna have my mom check our local walmart to see if they're ten bucks. Wouldn't that be a dream?!

have you checked with leapfrog? Abby had an issue with hers and they sent us a new one.

yes they are normally 60.00, the cars one was also 10, they had pink, green and cars for 10, the princess one was still 60.00. she also found the leap frog pen that reads books for 10, and a leap frog letter thing for the fridge for 5. she found all the deals today.

Ok. ... that is some deal. I live right next to a walmart and went and checked--- because that's what I am going to be buying my 2 boys for their birthdays in April. But nope... they are on sale though but from $69 to $59.

$10... is awesome LOL

question for those that already have it... is it to "baby" for a six year old? My almost 6yo (April) wants a DS. but, I think that the DS is too much for the almost 4yo so I thought this would be a good fit.... thoughts?

There's another Leapster for ages 6+. I think it's called Diji, or something like that. My 5 year old likes the Leapster 2, but he's still in pre-K. Not sure how it'll be once he's reading.

if you can get a hold of the original leapster gams on ebay, which play just fine on the Leapster2, they go up to 4th grade. They started remaking them when they switiched to Leapster2 to only go to 2nd and move the rest to the Diji system. We had an original Leapster & bought games whenever there was a sale so we have ones for 2nd-4th grade, even though DS1 is in kindergarten. They just don't have the computer element the Leapster 2 have. We upgraded to Leapster2 this Xmas because the original touch screen stopped working

When DS2 was 3 he could play Cars and some of the Backyardigan games and one called Learn to Draw.

My babysitter bought one too to keep for the kids to play with and I saw my daughter playing with it this morning, she didn't buy any games to go with it but the drawing one kept my daughters attention for a long time when I was there this morning, kinda neat. I will look for games, so the regular leapster games fit in the leapster 2 also, so if I find leapster games on ebay they will work?

Yes the regular leapster games work and so do the ones for the Leapster that plugs into the tv. You just can't do the special TV options, but the basic game itself plays just fine. We have an odd collection of them from yard sales
