Prayers needed - UPDATE on post 20 (prayers answered!)

Haven't been here much, but I just wanted to ask you lovely ladies to say a prayer for my dad. After getting a procedure done and multiple trips to his cardiologist, the doctor urgently told him that he needs a quadruple bypass. He's got several areas of calcification in his artery and that is the only way to relieve it. He also has a leakage in his valve and an anuerysm. All have to be dealt with separately, different surgeries are needed.

The thing is they are just visiting here, they live in the Philippines. They are covered by Medicare here, but are staying in a hotel. They're talking about flying home and getting it done there, but there's no coverage, everything will be out-of-pocket. He would be recovering at the comfort of home though and has more help there than he does here.

I'm not sure what to do, it's not up to me but I'd feel better if he had it done here so I can see him. I know that's being selfish but at least I can visit him and know that he's int he hands of some if the best surgeons in the country. :(

I'll keep him in my prayers Sam!!

Is there any way he and your mom could stay with you while he recovers?

Thanks Col. I'm looking for an apartment closer to our house. We're don't have anymore room at home, got 5 of us and only 2 bedrooms. I just talked to my mom, she said they can actually do all 3 procedures at one time. The surgeons are heart transplant specialists. It'll take at least 6 weeks to recover.

Ugh, I'm sorry Sam. Hopefully since they can do it all at once they'll find a way to stay and have it done here.

Lots of parayers being sent your way!! I know how scary it can be, my step-dad had to have an emergency quintuple bypassa couple years ago. They found tons of problems that he had just ignored. But, now, he's doing great and alot of the problems he did have like getting out of breath are gone. I hope you guys can work something out to keep him close!!

I'm so sorry Sam!!! LOTS of hugs and prayers being sent your way!!! I hope your dad can get the surgeries done here and recover quickly and comfortably!!!

I pray for your dad's health and safe/quick recovery. Also that you all have peace and all the details will be worked out.

Wow, Sam, what a lot to take in all at once, and for them to have to deal with this when they're so far away from home... I can't imagine! :(

Lots of positive thoughts and good vibes being sent your way!

How scary! I'm hoping they can get it all sorted out so he can be comfortable and taken well care of at the same time! P&T your way!~

Got some relief yesterday! My dad met with the cardio surgeon and reviewed video of the catherization and all his records. He suggested not to proceed with the bypass since he's not experiencing any chest pains or other symptoms. He advised on putting the stent in to relieve one of the areas of blockage, something my dad's thinking about (he needs a rest after all that bad news). He said the aneurysm is borderline right now, to keep monitoring it and if it reaches a certain size then consider the bypass.

Thanks for keeping him in your prayers...they really do get answered!
