another overlay question....

I'm confused about the psd and png files on Penny's overlays. It said something about not downloading the psd files if you only want the png files. What's the difference? I use Elements 7 if that helps. I still get confused about which file types to use, png, tiff, psd....so confusing to me!!

If you're chosing between PSD and PNG, you'd be better off downloading the PSD files.

PNG files are for those without PS or PSP or PSE - programs that don't open PSD files. TIFF are the same as a PSD, but smaller, and don't open in PSP (only PSCS+ and PSE3+).

Another thing is if you are concerned about space on your hard drive or are on dial-up it would be best to download the .png files because the .psd files take up a lot more space.

the psd though has a clipping mask for the papers and then the overlay..and the png is just the overlay :)

if you are lazy like me the psd is easier i can just clip my papers to that layer.

In PhotoImpact and PSP, tedious erasing is the only way to shape the paper to fit a png overlay. Penny's psd templates make the overlays much faster to use in PI and PSP.

with the png overlays in psp, you can use your magic wand outside the png and then select your paper layer and hit delete. you don't have to erase.

I prefer the psd ones though, simply because I'm lazy and can clip. LOL

This is what I do. Simply because I didn't want the extra space of the psd on my hard drive.
