I hate my mailman.

He will not leave packages that won't fit in my box at my door...he'll drive down the driveway, and honk the horn but if I can't get out the door in like 5 seconds he drives away and instead of leaving me my package he leaves one of those "you've got a package" cards in my box. :cursing: :cursing:

I ordered some layouts printed so I know that's what it was but by the time I was able to get out the door he was halfway down my driveway...and I KNOW he saw me standing there too! So now, I've got to haul both kids all the way to the post office if I want my layouts :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:

This is not the first time he's done this either.

I know!! I have never had a mail carrier that wouldn't just leave it at the door if we weren't home or didn't answer. I mean we live in podunk mississippi so unless a squirrel carries it away it'll be okay until I get to it kwim? Since he started delivering our mail I've had to go to the post office at least 10 times to pick up a package. The girl who does the run on the weekends will leave the package and the rest of my mail neatly on my doorstep which is really great b/c my driveway is 1/2 a mile long.

Absolutely complain. In this economy where everyone is struggling and jobs are scarce he should be reminded what customer service is. He is a public servant. It obviously is not breaking any rules if the Saturday lady does it. He is just being lazy.

As long as he leaves that note, he's not breaking ANY rules. We had some issues with our mail delivery recently, and that is exactly what I was told. Our carrier wasn't leaving the note though, so she got reprimanded. (She was also leaving packages on top of our curbside mailbox and at the end of our garage--a mere 10-15 steps from our front door.)

Well unless he's really low on the seniority pole and since he is the regular on the route, I doubt he is, this guy's job is not in danger. And I hate to drop the ball on this, but customer service coming first is a myth in the post office anymore. Bottom line is money, the budget. When dh started working for the USPS thirty years ago, customer service ruled. It's now secondary. That carrier may have a supervisor who's on his back to get back in as fast as possible, to save money on wages. Trust me, this is often the case. It's get out, hurry up,get it done and come back in. You just never know. He may in fact just be a lazy jerk, lol. Bottom line tho,is money at the USPS. The stories I could tell :glare:
At least your Saturday carrier is considerate. Make her some cookies. She'd appreciate it,lol.

SO what you are sayng is that laziness and poor attitude are job qualifications to be a mail carrier? I just figured out what my kids are doing when they grow up.

that's crazy!! I'd complain too!

My mailman is very nice but he bends all our mail in half! Drives me NUTS! So magazines and anything bigger than a letter has a permanent fold right down the middle.

No Heather, I'm not. this guy is probably a lazy jerk. One has no idea how much seniority the dude has or what. It wouldn't matter anyway, because human beings being what they are, they are all different. this one probably doesn't give a flying fig, whereas the weekend carrier does.
Most of these folks are good, hard working people. It's just that the jerks stand out like sore thumbs, lol.

I was teasing Brooke, I am sure you are awesome at your job. I don't have a mail carrier. I have a post office. And I love my post office lady.I am not sure what they call that job. But mine is super friendly. There are about a dozen people at my post office and I like them all. I just never understood why you would take a job in customer service if you can't be nice.

That is so frustrating.

I have to be honest here though. I'm pretty sure our mail carrier hates us. When we moved in our mailbox was totally ghetto. All rusty adn the door wouldn't closed. We tried to change it, but the screws were literally rusted out. So it sat there in use for 3 years until my DH was unemployed and one day got a bee in his bonnet to finally install the replacement that had been sitting in our living room all those years. Oh and when it snows you're supposed to shovel out a path so they can get to it in their mail truck. We do it now that we have a snowblower. But back when we didn't(and we were working all the time anyways), well I can't say we were too consistant about doing it. So yeah, I'm pretty sure he gives our house the evil eye when he drops off our mail. That being said, he's great at putting packages at our door if they don't fit in the box. He knocks and makes a run for it because he hears our big scary dog...

I would totally mention it to someone though. I think its frustrating to go stand in line at the P.O. for a package he could have taken 1 minute to get out of his truck and deliver to your door. My only question/concern might be that if he is disabled, maybe he cannot get out of the truck?

DH works for them, not I,lol.
Your PO lady is a postmaster :).

I think mail people are getting lazier and lazier. Mine leaves mine by the door - and sometimes it's freaking raining or snowing!

I would complain... You have every right to... For him to EXPECT you to walk out of your house and literally "come and get it" its ridiculus... I don't think it matters if he isn't breaking any of the post office's "rules" hes being a jerk and I think his supervisor needs to know about it... His job isn't to sit in his lil truck and honk it's to deliver your mail and packages... PUNK! lol him not you ;)
