Today sucked.

Because DH left again for starters and then I got a freakin virus on my laptop! I've been working for hours trying to get it off and so far nothing is working. I'm not even sure where it came from b/c I haven't downloaded anything for a couple of days. I'm soo frustrated right now!
 
oh man! I am sorry. I hope the evening gets better.
Were you able to contain the virus?
 
I don't know if it's contained...I really don't know anything about the inner workings of a computer ya know?..usually DH handles stuff like this so I'm kind of just blundering through trying to figure out what's wrong..it's some kind of spyware that makes it look like it's a spyware program on your computer to trick you into "purchasing" the software to remove it kwim?..so far my McAfee or spyware removal software hasn't been able to get rid of it...UGH!!!!

Kristin - DH is deployed..he was home for 4 days on a pass and had to leave again this morning. DS cried ALL day after he left...it wasn't fun :(

I just asked him and he could only get rid of it using system restore.
 
try spybot. Usually nabs everything for me.

Thanks! I'll try that... It really is so hard for him...his little 3 y/o mind just can't understand why he's gone for so long ...but this is the LAST time we have to say goodbye...10 more weeks and he's home FOR GOOD. yay!

That's what DH said I'll probably have to end up doing..he's on a plane right now but is supposed to call and talk me through it lol.
 
Oh I thought your hubby was home to stay too. Sorry he had to leave again. That virus stuff sucks. Wish I had some knowledge to help ya out.

Actually, today wasn't as bad for ME as it was for DS...I guess b/c I knew when I dropped him off at the airport that it was the last time I'd have to do that since the next time he'll be home to stay...I can really start counting down days now :)

For the virus...sounds like something I just had. (My mom had it, too!) Crazy pop-ups that made it look like the computer was finding all kinds of viruses and then wanted you to buy whatever to fix it.

This is where I went:

Just download the free version...it took care of it for us. HTH some!

The virus sounds like the one that was attached to 4shared. I saw it pop up on my computer, but turned off my internet in time! I wonder if the virus had been brewing around in your computer a while, since you said you haven't downloaded anything in a while...

We had the same problem last week. The malware took care of it finally!
 
Oh, I feel so bad for you and your ds....can't imagine how tough that would be :( 10 weeks will fly by I bet, especially since you've already gone this long. It will be so nice when you can all be a family again!!

Yeah for getting it!! :) Hope the time flies until hubby gets home.

Has anyone figured out if 4shared is safe to go to again?? I'm really leary of even getting something from there.
 
Im sorry to hear that...im sure the days will just fly by now though!! Also glad you got the virus isolated and fixed!! Hope you little guy does better today.
 
I had that spyware on my desktop last year. Get it into safe mode and get everything you need off of it. Nothing on my ehd was affected, so I was able to save everything!

I had to get mine to my tech, and he said it was the worst he'd ever seen...he almost had to wipe out my whole computer. He was able to get rid of it, but it never did work as well after that. I think I would've rather he just did a complete wipe out. I still had to reinstall everything anyway.

I'd get off of it asap if you don't know what you're doing and get it in somewhere. Just my 2 cents...but that was from my experience.

My guy told me a lot of times it happens when you click Install Active X and things like that from sites that you aren't 100% sure of (like Adobe or Microsoft).
