Does it always cost to change tickets? (flights)

You guys always have the answers.....

My hubby's grandparents are coming to visit and bought tickets a few weeks ago... well, since my baby hasn't been born yet, she won't even be 2 weeks old when they come and that means super stress for me and I don't want them to be here at that time. they looked at changing tickets but said it cost too much...

we thought about paying for it, or part of it. how much does it generally cost, does anyone know?? can you get it done without paying for it ever?

It depends on the airline. Most do charge to change tickets though. My mom paid $100 per ticket last summer.

Depends on the class of ticket they buy I believe. If you buy the lowest class ticket (early buying/cheapest normally) then the fees for changing it are going to be more than a higher priced ticket with less restrictions. I'm not sure exactly how one would KNOW what they were buying, that's just how it was explained to me when I had to change some tickets around at Christmastime.

FYI My tickets were $25 to change at that time

anywhere from $50-150 per ticket is the range I've seen/heard for changing tickets after purchase, especially if they were bought with ANY kind of promotion/discount, etc.

I think theirs might cost 150 to change which is a little pricey... for each ticket. If they were 50, maybe even 100, it'd be totally worth it.

I wonder if the airline would compromise....

When I tried to change the dates for my DH flight, it cost me $50 for the change. I think it depends on the dates the change will take place and the class of the ticket.

fly southwest! No cost to change! Go to the airline's website of who their tickets are through and hopefully you'll find the policy on changes.

I love Southwest..but they are also not big hub fliers and I live in atlanta..I have to go to birmingham to fly Southwest and that stinks! lol

Yeah southwest doesn't have great connections down here!

My hubby called and it would cost $200 per ticket plus the difference in ticket prices! that's crazy!

That's a bummer. I'm so sorry, Sarah! I hope your baby comes soon so you can try to get settled before they get there!

I've thought about that and won't rule it out... but they'll be here 5-6 nights and that is NOT cheap! Plus they won't have a car, so that's extra driving for me.
