get spring break at school? I saw on the news the beaches are full of kids off school for spring break (colleges mostly) so I guess spring break should be coming up for my kids too because it is usually a week or two afterwards. When do your kids get out for spring break this year? I cant believe how fast this year has went by...once spring break is done the kids only have a few weeks of school left before summer break. Usually the last week of May/first week of June is their last week of school

My nieces and nephews have it this coming week. Ditto on the year going so fast... seriously!?... where. is. it. going!?!?

Here it's the week of April 8th-13th. It would have started the 4th, but we had to make up 2 snow days that Monday & Tuesday...nobody's going to actually be there though!

Wow ours is actually a little bit later this year. It starts March 27th (actually a student holiday) and they dont go back til April 6th...

My kids are in a Catholic school and spring break is always the week after Easter. It was that way when I was a kid, too. I'm counting down the days because it means I don't have to get up at 6:30 every morning, lol.

The public school by us is year round so my friend's kids are on spring break right now...for the entire MONTH of March. Then another tract has the entire month of April off for spring break. Another one had February off. Then my friend's kids go until July and have all of July off for summer break and are back to school on August 1st for the new year (they have all of Novemeber, actually just before Halloween until December 1st for winter break, plus 2 weeks at Christmas off).

Our last day of school before spring break is today. So March 16th-20th is our "official" spring break week.

:w00t:

wow tht haas gotta be confusing!! What if you have two kids on two seperate schedules?

The boys are off from 4/4-4/13 this year. They would have shortened it, but they managed to find a few other days in there where they could add time for missed days. They've extended the school day by two minutes per day and the last day will now be a full day instead of a half day too. Apparently, too many parents complained about previously scheduled vacations being messed up by the change, so this is what we get instead.

I used to be in year around school, and they put families on the same tracks. You can request one to be on when you start school there, and you can apply to move tracks at a certain point in the year. Here though, you have to apply to get in to year around school - my school district is currently at the supreme court over if they can make kids go to year around schools, haha.

Oklahoma's spring break is next week, March 16-20. The State Dept of Education sets the dates for spring break so that no matter if you have kids in different districts/universities/etc, they will have the same time off.

Spring break for our area started last week and continues through the next two-three weeks (I live in a large metropolitan area). Our personal spring break won't happen until mid April when the grandparents arrive for vacation.

Our county's starts runs April 13-17. All the nearby counties have April 6-10. Except the Catholic school which also has April 13-17.

My kids are going to be so irritated the week of April 6th. All their nearby friends go to school in the next county (we live a mile from the county line) and will be off school. And the week my kids are off school we will be in Florida so they won't get to say "Oh we played all day." to their friends every afteroon. :)

The kids go to school on Thursday before Good Friday, and then are off for 10 days, until the Monday. Although this year, I think they get until Tuesday for some reason. I don't know the dates LOL

mine start today and are off until the 30th. Always two weeks off here. Where we used to live was only one week, so it's taken some getting used to having them home for so long. lol

My college son has spring break next week...but my middle school and high school kids' teacher is really MEAN and won't let them have a Spring Break!

My sister is in Kansas, and her kids have it this coming week. My brother is in Virginia, and they have it the week before Easter. My son is in a private Christian school, and he has it for two weeks...the week before and after Easter. They keep the same schedule as the local school district.

Ours is always the first full week of April. So I think it's like the 6th through 10th this year? I agree that the year is flying by, but I thought ti was just because I had a student teacher this year. I'm all about a quick school year! Come on summer!!!! :)

How in the world does the teacher alone have a say??? That's horrible! There is no way on GOd's green earth our district would allow that!

I'm guessing Sharon Kay homeschools. Am I right?

We are on Spring Break -- both myself as a teacher and my kids, who attend a different district. My kids' district is talking about getting rid of Spring Break next year to save money (which makes no sense to me.... it's still the same number of days in school). I love Spring Break. We always go out of town, and honestly, we need it. Jan/Feb are always rough for us as a family and we need to regroup.

Here in my neck of Oregon it is not this coming week but the next one (week of the 23rd?)

You would be correct! :p

Here is a picture of my boys in their "classroom"...you can tell that we opt for casual dress.

We have NEVER gone anywhere for Spring Break and we're opting for getting out earlier in May. I always hated the going to school after Memorial Day...sometimes for just 4 hours! ...and they would hold the yearbooks until that day to hand out. Sometimes it was even a few days after Memorial Day if we had a bad winter (which is rare)...but nothing really "educational" was done those last few days...there would be parties (I was asked to help out so I saw it) and movies, etc. ...so I figure we will skip Spring Break and get out a couple of weeks earlier than the district because we didn't take any of those days off they did this year...and we had a much shorter winter break ...so really their teacher isn't so mean after all... (at least that is what SHE thinks) ;)

They don't call it spring break here, we have February Vacation and April Vacation. They had the last week of February off and they have the last week of April off.

My DH and our girls are out this week March 16-20th! I'm looking forward to not having to get up and get them off to school! And I'm sure DH is glad he won't have to see his students for a whole week lol!
