I am very proud of myself. Despite my intense urge to do this LO in PSE, I FORCED myself to do it in CS4. It took me FOR-E-VER. But I did it! :D It was rather frustrating not having a the photo bin *cry*..... and there were lots of things that are so different and I kept trying to do things the PSE way. BUT I must say... I am IN LOVE with the shadowing options! WARP... ohmygoodness... Anyways, I just wanted a pat on the back for finally using CS4. :D Change can be good... but it's hard. ;) TY to all the ladies here who helped me out with my questions!!

That turned out fabulous!!!!! Love it! I remember when I converted from PSP to PS I practically had to uninstall PSP to keep myself from defaulting, lol. I'm so glad you like CS4!

If it's really slowing you down why not scrap the layout in pse save it and then shadow it in cs4 lol I did that for a long time when my computer was playing up and going super slow. I am so used to CS3 now I don't think I could ever go back to PSE but it's still installed just incase I want to do something and not have to wait an age for photoshop to open lol. Hugs Crystal xx

It was slow because she was learning, not because her computer was bogged down. But one thing I learned with my PS is to not have every font loaded and to not have every action and style loaded as well, they really are what slow mine down when opening. And once it is opened I can always load the style/action then. Otherwise, waiting, waiting, waiting!

~And CONGRATULATIONS MEGAN!! You did it! And yes the photobin thing will haunt you, but it will get better but never go away! Seriously I was hoping CS4 might have one with all us digiscrappers buying up PS more and more, but no still no bin!
~But your shadows look fabulous and your layering is excellent! I think there isn't a LO I don't warp the shadow on just a little these days LOL! Oh and when I'm doing a LO with lots of big photos or papers I also apply the wave distort filter on just the shadow layer on them to make them not lie so flat (not that you have that going on here)- another one of my favorites in shadowing.

You are on your way to uninstalling PSE!!! (or at least not being tempted to go there)

That is why I haven't upgraded from PSE5 yet- even though its from the prehistoric era! Nice job Megan! :)

Ha! Am I the only one who seriously doesn't miss the photo bin at all? I just drag from one doc to another.

Good job, Megan! Eventually, you'll wonder how you ever lived without CS4!

Actually, CS4 loads faster than PSE does... so the only reason it took so long is because of ME. lol

I'm with you Megan. I had to reinstall windows so when I did I didn't put PSE5 back on so I'd be forced to use CS4. I'm getting better..

What is warp shadow? I've been using flergs shadow styles that I picked up on her blog.

Warp shadow is when you add a shadow (flergs or whatever) then you right click on the little f icon and select create layer (for the shadow) then you click on the shadow layer and Control-T and then the little warp symbol (right next to the circle w/the line through it and checkmark up in the middle) and it gives you a grid over your shadow. Then you can click on part of it and it warps it the way you drag it. This is how you get the "pulling off the page" look with pictures or flowers or strings. The shadow is warped and not perfectly even like in real life! So fun!!

It looks great! Isn't it a fantastic feeling knowing that you're figuring it out!

I haven't played much with my shadowing yet . . . that's something I need to fiddle with a little more I guess. :)

Awesome! thanks so much! :) I learn something new EVERY day here!

I  this place!

Meeeeeeeegan!!!! I am so proud of you!. I have not un-installed PSE yet. And last night I needed to quickly edit a photo from my BFF's cell and I broke down and did it in PSE because the filter I wanted works there.
So, I may need to uninstall. PSE is like a crutch.

Have you tried installing the action in PS? All my PSE actions work in mine. All you need to do is copy the .atn file to the Photoshop Actions folder. Then you can use it in PS and lose the crutch!
