Okay, my best friend is having her 3rd and last baby. This one is a boy, they have two girls, and it's been 6 years since she had a baby, so she's having a surprise shower.
I have a little bit of a need to show off some, so.... hit me with your best EASY hybrid ideas that will blow people out of the water. I have until the 27th... her shower is the 28th.
I should have said, no diaper cake. There's already going to be one, I think, and I don't want to do it anyways, I dont' know why, I just don't.
I do want to do the onesies if I can figure out cute stuff to put on them.
Lay them on me, people.

How about a diaper wreath?? Here are 2 things I did for my sister's shower. Almost 2 years ago, I had my mom's old photos scanned so I have a ton of pictures from a long time ago. So that's where I got my pictures for the Guess Who Game. It was a total hit!!

Do you know the name? You could do the altered letters.

I like the letter idea too! Or how about some room decor? If you know if it's a boy or a girl, you could do an altered canvas, or some altered wooden blocks? You could also do some bibs to match the onsies.

They haven't decided yet. I think it will be Lane Michael, but I'm not sure.. and I can't press for an answer because it's a surprise shower. I will probably do the letters after he is born.

LOL Sara, you crack me up. You could get a plain wooden box at Michaels or Hobby Lobby, some modge podge, some foam brushes and some good adhesive.
Print out some papers from a kit of your choice and cover the box. Use adhesive and modge podge. Very thin coats of modge podge on the outside and be sure to get it smooth. Then add some ribbon, elements, and the words Keepsake Box. Should be very easy but if you need help I'll talk you through it, you still have my cell number?

onesies -- I typed in boy onesies at etsy.com and found some adorable ideas.
I esp. like this one:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_gallery_2&listing_id=22366146&ga_search_query=onesies+boy&ga_search_type=tag_title&ga_page=3&min=&max=&order=
A onesie for each month and with all the cute date bits in digi scrapping, it would be easy!
Just get iron-on transfer paper for your printer (Michael's), print and iron!

I have done the paint bucket filled with onesies - very cute. Tutorials for both are on the Hawt Mama blog
I did the altered name, but that seems "out" for right now since you don't have a name.
"Baby Sleeping" signs for either the front door or the baby's room.
Altered frame - they have bare wood ones at Michael's as well.

Keep em coming!
I have my cousins shower on April 5th that I'm still trying to decide on gifts for.
I was thinking about doing a diaper cake but I'm not sure when I'd be able to fit that into my schedule.

my first thought was doing the diaper cake for my sister... and well, yeah, I ended up doing the diaper wreath instead LOL. She liked it very much! I jus got the ring at Joanns and put the diapers around it - tied them with ribbon and then just stuck things in the ribbon. they have the little bottles in a set at target so that was easy!

Honestly ... a diaper cake only takes me about an hour now. I roll the diapers while watching TV and assembling the layers is pretty fast. I print out my papers and cut them into 2" strips and then glue together. I spend the most time if I am handcutting out elements from kits that I have printed, like animals or letters.

Ditto here... I've been doing diaper cakes for a couple years and silly me just figured out this last time that it's much easier to secure them with rubber bands!! I've always done ribbon tied around each one!! Needless to say, my life is much easier now!! LMBO!! I totally forgot to post pics of the hybrid one I did so, I am gonna run do that right quick!! LOL
Diaper wreaths are cute, and if you did the keepsake box, you could fill it with baby essentials, or make the onesies and/or bibs and stuff them in it. Could do a nightlight and have it say sleep tight. If you know the nursery theme, you could alter shapes(animals, stars, etc), mind yo these are ideas in my head, nothing I've done so, I'm not the one to ask about how!! LOL But, if you were adventurous, you could do a keepsake box with some wall decor, a nightlight, and a door and/or doorknob hanger... It's all stuff I wanted to do but, since we moved 3 days before my SIL's shower, I ran out of time!!

I did a clock and removed the face from the inside and replaced
it with one I printed instead. Mine had a Noah's Ark Theme, but
you could do any theme. I added the child's first name. I also
printed out a birth record form and framed it. I left the blanks
for the parents to fill in with height, etc.
