How do you....

I am going nuts. Does anyone know how to create a big round arrow? Or do you know of where I can buy a template to make one? I want to have a big round arrow on a LO I am working on and I can't figure it out.

Have you looked in the shapes pallette in ps? There are some fat arrows in there that you can use... to round up the edges, you can use your magic wand to select the arrow (once you rasterize/simplify the shape layer) then play with "smooth" in "refine edges"- smoothing it a lot will round the edges :)

I'm wanting to create an arrow similar to on this LO:

What program are you using? PSE and PS have several types of arrows in the custom shapes tool (NOT the cookie cutter in PSE)...but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for...

Do you mean like a "circle" that just happens to have an arrow "within it"!?! Or just like a "curved" arrow?

Did those questions even make sense!?!?! :D

I use CS3. I'll look again in the custom shapes section. I didn't realize it would be so hard for me to figure it out! LMAO

Oh, OK...thanks for the example, Paula! What I would do is for that is create a circle first, cut out a circle in the middle, then erase the parts you don't want. Then create a triangle and rotate it a bit and put it on the "end" of the circle you created. Does that make sense? Then just merge the layers and cover with patterned paper or whatever.

You could make your own pretty easily. I just tried it and it only took a few minutes.

Draw circle shape. Rasterize layer.
Use circular marquee tool to select and delete middle portion of circle (giving you the thickness of the arrow that you want).
Use rectangle marquee to delete half of circle to give you the rounded part of the arrow.
Use custom shape tool to add triangle to end of arrow.
Merge layers and you should have an arrow shape.

Thanks everyone!! Lynnette, that is an awesome tut! I wrote it down in my book and tried it and it worked perfectly!

I'll have a full pack of arrow templates coming next week (not saturday) probably.. if you want to wait that long lmao
