Wii Fit peeps...

We got a Wii Fit last night. I played with a bit last night and did a 30-minute workout on it this morning. So far, I'm loving it! But I have a few questions...

Are we allowed or supposed to wear tennis shoes on the board? I mean, I don't think its a *big* deal, but I'm certainly more comfortable doing the step aerobics and jogging w/ tennis shoes on. Any thoughts?

Also, are there any cool features that I, as a new user, might not know about? Anything I should try or do or check out?

And lastly, are there any must-have Wii Fit accessories that I can't live without? I don't think I'm going to be doing much of the Yoga, so I think I'll hold off on the yoga mat. Anything else?

Ok, I think thats it. I had a blast this morning and I can't wait to work out again tomorrow! Tonight I'm going to do more of those balance exercises. :w00t:

eta: I realize that the jogging is not done ON the board. I guess I"m mostly talking about the step aerobics since that what I will be doing most of the time.

Woohoo! it's FUN huh! you're not supposed to wear shoes on the board, maybe you could try ballet slipper type shoes if you really can't convince yourself to go barefoot.

Not any accessories that I know of, you don't even HAVE to have the mat to do some of the beginning yoga moves. I do like the stretches as opposed to getting down on the floor. LOL

When I first started I had no idea how to "combine training exercises" when the little message box pops up after doing an exercise. I later found out that it is a suggestion of exercises that go well together *duh* and you don't have to do what it suggests but it'll keep track if you do. ;)

Don't forget to check out your graph to track your exercises, I like that it shows how a bar graph of how much of each exercise type you do. Also, you can log in outside exercise. All this time I assumed that was only for if I went to the gym. I looked at it recently and found out that it counts doing laundry, vacuuming, gardening, making dinner!!! ;) woohooo

No way I can run without tennis shoes on. But, I hate running in place anyway so I don't do much of that. My friend bought this silicone thingie to go over her board that she says makes it very cushy for doing step and such on it, barefoot. She loves it, I want to get one eventually. Just not high on my current priority list :)

Oh yeah! I remember seeing one of those! That would make step aerobics a bit more comfortable. I mean, its not painful for anything. But I"m not exactly a tiny little girl. My poor feet need as much support as they can get. lol

Oh, and as for the jogging in place, I'm not a big fan of it either. But I've found the beginner jog is a good warm-up. And its a short jog. Just a few minutes.

I actually love running with the Wii Fit - except I just take the controller and run on my treadmill. Very enjoyable! Makes you feel like you're running outside or with someone. LOL And I can't help but giggle a little when another Mii falls on their face! I know...so mean!

I use shoes on my Wii Fit. I'm such a klutz that without them, I'd be the one falling over the darned thing.

You can hook your Wii up to wireless and connect with other Wii players - something I have yet to try, but definitely want to! We have it hooked up to wireless already and that was easy.

My girlfriend bought that My Fitness Coach for the Wii and she said she really likes it.
So something else to think about... :)

I put on sneakers when I jog but I do everything else without them.

When you get to the Island run you can take different paths around the place by running past your guide and following the different dogs that run past you

Just.. when you get the advanced step unlocked.. and you think it's a grand idea to try that out even though you just finished doing the first step.. don't do it. resist the temptation. It nearly killed me.

Also, that my fitness coach disc is the devil. They tried to kill me too. I couldn't even get past the training part. They wanted me to do jumping jacks for 2 minutes. Solid. 2 freaking minutes, people.

Oh right. The original question. Sorry I got a little sidetracked there. LOL

I do it in my socks.

LOL Sara...It said to stop if you needed to. on the jumping jacks....I had to go low intensity on it and then, great, Maya thinks that 2 minutes of jumping jacks is easy peasy for me because my heartrate wasn't that high. That's because I was passed out flatlined on the floor :p

I loved my wii fit... but lately I don't use it at all. I just can't seem to get myself too. I was all for losing all this weight I put on, lost a few pounds then forgot all about it lol!
