Spin-off of Nikki's thread about stock photography...

I have been thinking about the stock photography issue, and why it also bothers me... I confess I'm really not the best at getting in the gallery and leaving comments (though I am always glad when I take the time to do so!) and it really hit home to me today why I am bothered by the stock photography, after spending just a few minutes in the gallery.

I really appreciate when pages are aesthetically pleasing, innovative, and just amazing... but if it is just a picture of someone's child from stock photography, it doesn't really move me. I love that this is a community where I'm getting to "know" people here, and your children, significant others, pets, etc. It makes me smile when I see your sweet children, hear your funny stories, read journaling where someone opened up their heart... I really appreciate and enjoy that. When I comment about a LO I often want to comment about the photo because in my view a good page really highlights the photo(s) being scrapped!

So thanks everyone for being such a great group to both share a bit of yourselves and your families, and to allow me to feel comfortable sharing a bit from my own life. :) This is not to bash those in this or other communities who do a lot of scrapping with stock photos, but I was just able to really identify why that leaves me "cold" so to speak after a quick trip through the lovely gallery here. :)

Yes! I think you hit the nail on the head as to what bothers me about it and I didn't even realize it until you posted this. I totally agree.
