Headed up to Whistler

For this Memorial Day weekend the Fam and I are headed up to Whistler. We will be leaving sometime in the late afternoon but after that I wont be online much til Monday.

I have never been up to Whistler, has anyone here? What should we do when we get there?

Wave on your way by! What sort of activities do you like? Hardcore mountain biking is a key attraction there right now, but there is a ton of gorgeous scenery to see via hikes/walks in the area.

Have you ever done the drive? It can be nerve-wracking, especially when you're new to the road, and there can be delays for a wide variety of reasons, so you might want to prepare for that possibility. Snacks, things to occupy the kids, etc. just in case.

No we have only gone as far as Vancouver before well we did hit Victoria on the ferry but thats the other way. I was planning on bringing a smaller cooler with sandwiches and drinks etc. My kids are always hungry. Though we are minus 2 Game Boy DS' one totally got broken and thrown in the trash and the other is missing!? Kids wander off with them and don't remember where they left them....I am thinking I will have to bring some DVD's and hook up the laptop for something else for the kids to occupy them.

Often the drive goes by smoothly (well, as smoothly as that road can go, lol) but when there's a delay, you're kinda stuck unless you happen to be within range of one of the few areas you can pull off and kill some time. It might not even be an issue, but thought I should warn you just in case. I haven't done the drive since my cousin's wedding a year ago. They've been working on road improvements for the Olympics which will help, but in the meantime can be a hindrance.

oh, I hope you have fun! My DH's family is from Squamish so we get up to Whistler all the time. We love it!

We made it! I am currently using the internet from my hotel room!! :D Tried scrapping for a few mins but it seems I am in a rut again.. Boo i hate being in a rut. I have tried 3 different times to do this one layout for my son but I keep starting over because its just BAD! and not in a good way...

Yay!!! Enjoy your weekend! And as to scrapping, I think sometimes it's just best to take a break and do other things, and being away for a weekend is an ideal time to take that break. All that fresh air, gorgeous scenery and the memories and photos that come from it will no doubt give all sorts of inspiration and chase that rut away!

Oh I'm so jealous! I would love to go to Whistler! I'm not a skier/snowboarder/winter person in general, but I'd love to go this time of year! I bet its gorgeous!!

Just a side-note - I lived in Kamloops, and they have an awesome ski resort close by (Sun Peaks), and it is GORGEOUS both in winter & summer (and spring and fall, lol). Its nickname is "Little Whistler"... so if SP is that pretty, I can only imagine was Whistler looks like!

It is beautiful here. Tomorrow we will be going hiking so I am sure we will get some awesome picks for me to scrap with!

Today we went swimming twice and stopped to get Ice cream at Cows. Oh yeah and we took the kids to see night at the museum 2 We all loved it!

I am so jealous! I stayed up there several years ago with a big group, it was so much fun. I remember it being a a looooong drive but worth it. I hope you're having a great time!

It's definitely a long drive longer with kids ;) But we are having a blast! I am so glad I told my husband I wasn't going to sit home for this memorial day weekend!
