I seem to have great plans....

of starting & or completing the challenges here but can't get motivated. I need to figure out a way of getting at least 20% off (40% off would be really nice though too) as I have close to $100 USD worth of stuff waiting to be checked out at some point ( it works out to be around $150- $160 NZD - a whole week's income for me)

I probably only have 1 day that I can truely scrap to my hearts desire each week - that could easily change if I get this new job that I am applying for.

I feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place right now - to do the challenges I need more SSD stuff but to get more SSD stuff I need to do the challenges.

when I was trying for the discounts I found the easiest way was to try to do the challenge the day it is put out and to catch up on what Ive missed on the day that I can scrap the most. I also know that I will skip certain ones. Like hybrid I never do(dont have a working printer right now). I usually skip the paper to digi and scrap your day on the 9th. So that helps me figure out what I need to do if I know Im going to skip those.

generally I am just coming home as the challenges end as midnight est = 4pm the next day for me. I do try and have a plan but usually by about the 5th I lose focus and stop trying for the challenges.

Just a tip that might help to get discounts is to read the DST Insider and The DSA (Digi Scrap Addicts) newsletters. Sometimes the designers advertise and have coupons! I also watch the blog for the designer features.

I did ok on the challenges last month. But this month has been busy so I haven't been able to partipate. I'm looking forward to trying again next month!

I get them but would like to get a bit more than 25% off as it already costs me more with exchange rates if I can

Something else I was just thinking about...the designers all have team blogs (or most of them do) and they have a challenge a month usually...sometimes it is just lifting a certain CT member, or on Traci Reed's blog, she usually offers a template if you don't want to lift them. I try to use the designers products for the challenge. You can usually earn gift cards for their stores here. Sometimes there are a lot of people playing along, and other times there are only a few. Let me link you to a few, and then you can see if that would be something that would interest you. It would be fun to win a gift card now and again!!

Thanks for the reminder Debra!
I used to always get the 40 off but the last couple months have been just blah for me. Time is moving so fast.....I still can't believe it's May and here it is almost June.

I do tend to look at the team blogs and download the template etc but tend to forget to actually do the layout.

I am beginning to think I'd be best to leave my aim of working on the challenges until I finish with school in about a months time.

I was enough challenges to make 40% off for about 3 months now but decided to take a couple months off. It's awesome to get that huge 40% discount, though! I'd buy like 20 kits at once but the savings would be HUGE! Just think, if buy $100 in products, you'll only be paying $60 for them! That's awesome and a great motivation for me!!!! Stock-up time!!!!

I know I'm going to wish I did the challenges in a couple weeks, I'll miss my shopping spree! But I have a lot of baby stuff to buy, and then next month I'll be too tired to do the challenges cuz I'll have a newborn and my son's 4th birthday stuff.

It is a lot of work to get many of them done, but remember you can miss quite a few and still get enough for a discount. :) Good luck!

Well I caved and bought about half the stuff I wanted to - some with discount codes and others from the penny candy section too plus a bit of full priced stuff totalling just under $20. Now hopefully some new goodies will help the mojo along a bit

Glad you were able to pick some stuff up!

This is the first month of the new year that I've focused on doing the challenges. I discovered I was really missing that big shopping spree that the discount afforded me! I just keep a list and do those first when I get a minute to scrap. I'm working on old photos right now and I can usually make them work for the challenges. And I pick and choose too - I didn't get going on the 365, so I skip the monthly review challenge, the hybrid, and the picture of my day. :)

Well Jennifer...you got some fabulous stuff there! I love that you remembered to go to the Penny Candy section. I forget to visit there, and then when I do, I always find some fabulous goodies at a great discount!!
