House of Night Series

Has anyone read these? Here's the link to book one. I confess that I bought my first Twilight book from the Children's Book of the Month club and it keeps recommending I try this other series. I have never heard of it and I really don't read much so I know nothing about it, but you girls seems to know lots about this kind of stuff, so I thought I would ask you!

I have a few students reading these. They seem to like them.

are they really young adult then?? or more like twilight? lol I seriously haven't had a chance to read up on them yet. Just came here to browse the forum! lmao I'm lazy! hahaha!

I think they are geared towards adolescents. I read the first few pages of the one you linked. I enjoyed it.

I've read all five of the books in the series so far (#6 comes out in November) and they are definitely young adult and I did enjoy them but definitely not as much as the Twilight series though. The books mostly take place in a kind of high school for fledgling vampires once they are marked so most of the characters are around 15-17 years old. There is kind of a love triangle to the story but it's not really like the Bella/Edward/Jacob triangle and a lot of teen "slang" is used throughout the books when the characters talk which I thought was a little annoying after awhile but then I'm almost 31 lol. Overall they were decent reads though.

Wicked Lovely trilogy by Melissa Marr - Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange & Fragile Eternity
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz - Blue Bloods, Masquerade, Revelations & book #4 comes out in October

I have a friend at church, she's 23, and she's completely addicted to these!

the authors were on the news last night. Nightline I think it was. It is a mom and daughter who write it. The mom is/was an english teacher and the daughter is like 22? The slang in the book is likely from the daughter because she said she helps her mom write the teenagers like they would talk. It showed a book signing and while it seemed like they were popular they didnt seem as popular as Twilight. I am waiting for the 3rd and 4th books to come out in paperback and was looking at this series when I was in the bookstore and read a few pages and they just didnt seem all that interesting to me. But thne before Twilight I was not into the whole teenage vampire thing LOL

What she said!! I have read them all. They are quick reads. There is some language, violence and a little hanky panky too. But they all leave you hanging and wanting to pick up the next book! Enjoy!

i'm ready for the 5th one Hunted. just gotta go grab it!

I've read the first three. They're easy, fast reads. Pretty good.
