In the past month my husband has found five snakes and tonight while walking out to put the garbage to the street my son stepped on a water moccasin. It tried to strike my husband as he is an idiot and had to catch it like he does all snakes. I know they are always around but it seems like we have had an abundance this year.

Ewww.....that would just freak me out living anywhere near snakes. Come to New Zealand. No snakes here. Seriously. NO. SNAKES.

We have lots too, but we live in the woods so it's not a surprise. I did find a rattlesnake skin right outside my back door a couple of weeks ago. I don't mind them if they're not poisonous but I hate knowing there are rattlers and water moccosins crawling around back there. I also found a black widow in my mailbox the other day...which freaks me out even worse!

There've been a lot more around here too lately! My pastor's dd almost got struck by a rattler the other day! scary! Luckily we haven't seen any in our yard yet! (knock on wood lol)
Nikki, we kill black widows & brown recluses like crazy here! We killed 1 of each yesterday!
And ticks! We get ticks really bad!

Ya'll are making me really glad I live in Cali with the mosquitoes and earthquakes...

We don't live in Florida and we don't live in a rural area - but we've had a ton of snakes too! DH saw 5 just in a few hours while mowing last weekend.

Best story though - a snake had gotten into the garage while the dog was in the back yard. The cat, who has become much more adventurous, happened to find the snake in the garage while we were running errands. She very lovingly captured the snake and brought it into the bedroom, where she placed it in the middle of the bed, and waited until we got home to offer us this wonderful present.

Needless to say, I was shrieking and called to DH to come remove the snake from our bed.

NICE! Gotta love it when they bring "presents"

Oh gosh we have tons of snakes. Only six types in Florida are supposd to be poisonous. We live rifht next to a huge drainage canal though so we have ALOT of the water moccasins in there. They msotly leave you alone but when you are married to an idiot who feels compelled to catch every single solitary snake he ever sees well they tend to get a little annoyed with that and that is when someone will get bit.

Dont even get me started on mosquitos. That drainage canal is also a breeding ground for them and when I am outside I get swarmed by them some of them are big enough to carry away a small human LOL
