I am using a template in PSP and when I brought over my background paper it went from purple to gray. Any clue what setting caused that and how I can fix it?

I wonder if it's because the color profile is set to grayscale?

I can't find anything called color profile.

I don't know where it is in PSP, my hubby is on our computer that has PSP right now. In PS, it's under image -> mode and then there are several options. You want to make sure it says RGB Color. Maybe if you go through your help menu and plug in RGB it will give you navigational information.

It's been like 5 years since I've used psp.. there's either an image or colours in your top pull down menus right? one of those should have it in it.. either increase colour depth or a straight change mode

when I open PSP and go under IMAGE there is a increase/decrease color depth option. Im guessing that would where you change it?

I'll send Shannon to the thread..she'll be able to tell ya..it does sound like it's set on greyscale though

what version do you use?

There could be two things...One your resolution is off-on the template it's self.
Double check the resolution and make sure it is 300DPI.
You also might need to increase your color depth-that is done under the image tab...mess around with it till it is right!
If one of these two things doesn't work-LMK-I'll go back to the drawing board!
HTH's hon!

is it a free template? I could try downloading it if it is and see if it does it on my computer.

still having trouble? how did you bring the background into the template---make sure your layers are set to "normal" and not one that's a blending mode like burn or overlay or something like that--hope that makes sense

I was about to say exactly what switchwiz did. Check the blend mode on the layers panel to the right, AND check the one at the top too.
Did you get it fixed yet?

I use X2. The part that says grayscale is not highlighted, I have tried changing the RGB colors, but that doesn't work. And it is set to Normal layers. Its not a free template.

Have you tried a different background? Tried using Cntl + L to paste it as a new layer to see if that works any differently then how you were doing it? Tried coloring the layers in the template to see if that makes any difference?

Also if it is a template you bought have you tried asking the person who made it for help? (assuming it is something you purchased from someone)

Yeah, I emailed her and got directions for how to fix it in PS. I told her I use PSP and am waiting to her back again. She said she saved it in grayscale. I hate how little things like that can get all screwy in PSP.

have you tried opening a new (non-grayscale) 3600x3600px canvas and just dragging the template layers over?

OK I changed a template over to greyscale on my computer and saved it that way it did change colored b/g's over to grey like you said (that is really weird and Ive never seen it on any template before) and to get it back I just clicked on Image/Increase Color Depth/8 Bits

After I did that I pasted the same background again and it came back as the normal color
