Scary morning! Apparently the little man is allergic to bees...

Wes got stung for the first time this morning - by a tiny little sweat bee this morning. I didn't think it was too big of a deal - he didn't cry, only said "Mommy, the bug got me!"

But within 30 seconds he started swelling and turning red. We jumped into the car and went straight to the ER. They gave him 2 doses of steroids and Benedryl and monitored him for awhile.

We have a follow-up appt with his pediatrician at 3pm.

He thought being at the hospital was a hoot (well, at least for the first 30 min we were there). Several nurses came in to see his reaction to a sweat bee, and he very proudly told all of them "a baby bee tung me... it WEEALLY tung me."

At the hospital being monitored for a little while...

Awwww, he's such a cutie! Great job getting him help so quickly, I can only imagine how scary that was for you!

Poor lil' buddy. :( My boy is allergic to everything! It sucks. I'm very allergic to bees and who knows what else. I was never tested but I know for a fact that I am to bees because of a very bad experience when I was younger. EEEEK. I hope he feels better soon!

OOoooh, scary! Glad you were on top of things and got him straight to an ER! Super-mommy to the rescue!

P.S. Does he have to have an EpiPen from now on?

poor little guy. I was about the same age when I got stung the first time and they found out I was allergic. I got stung on my leg and within about an hour I had a lump about the size of a tennis ball on my leg!! I was at daycare and they ignored me when I told them my leg was itchy and it hurt. My mom didnt know about it until I got home hours later.

I just got home from the Pharmacy with the Epipens that his pediatrician gave us. It came with a "practice" pen, and the loud click when I practiced one time made my stomach turn! I hope to heaven we never have to use it!!

If we DO ever have to use it, I hope someone else is with him other than DH - poor DH's face turned white when he practiced with it. Tough guy goes out the window when the little one is involved! :p

oh geez that IS skeeery! glad he made out okay though and that you got the pens... i think it won't be so bad using them if you HAVE to because you'll probably be relieved that you actually have them! :)

Wow, glad you could make it to the hospital so fast! He looks like a trooper. I think that in case you have to use the pen you won't think about it until after. But lets hope he never needs it! I have been stung by a bee only once in my life so far.

Awww, (((hugs))) about that! We had to practice giving shots for Mason's steroids at one point in time...it was horrible. But when it came down to it, he needed the shots and so you just gotta do what you gotta do, as scary as it is!
