I don't know if anyone remembers me at all but I hung out here awhile ago but took a little break... I wanted to say hi and join the fun again :)

For anyone that remembers I did have my baby boy 6 weeks ago! His name is Dylan and here is a link to a gorgeous layout that Amy did of him... She did an AMAZING job :)

Any way I was wondering if anyone could recommend a baby sling or carrier (not sure of the right name). I am nursing and I would love something that would offer me a little bit of freedom. Not just for nursing but for around the house or out and about so I have my hands free when I need to get something done. Are there any particular ones that you all love or hate??

Thanks in advance :)

i know i bought mine off etsy where a lady on there made them. I think her name was loveyduds or something along those lines. Her carriers are great. I've given them as presents to first time moms and they love them :)

When I was back in baby mode, I always checked out baby bargain's website. They have a section dedicated to baby wearing and you'll probably get lots of great advice there! I can't remember the company that custom made mine, but you'll be sure to fine lots of options and opinions there!

I have no advice on where to buy, as I'm thousands of miles away, lol, but I LOVED my Moby. It's great for beginners, and perfect for new babies, soft and secure. I don't know how it would work out for nursing in, as I could never get the hang of that no matter what carrier I used, I always had to take him out!!

Congrats on your little guy, he's a cutie :D

You're probably going to get recommendations on twenty different kinds! ;)

My personal fav is the ergo baby carrier - and that's after the Baby Bjorn, two kinds of slings, Maya, Moby, and countless lectures by others on the safety or not of buying homemade carriers.

After I found it, I really wished I had had it all along. We're still using it - it converts to a back carrier - when we hike and snowshoe. HTH!

Big congrats on your little one!

I had a Mei Tai, custom made by a friend here:

I couldn't nurse in it, but I know she makes other types. The Mei Tai was great, I could just put her in, and I had FREE HANDS! It was miraculous, especially with two other ones aged 4 and 2 to contend with. I wore it for hours a day some days.

She does have other kinds, and I can vouch for her quality, it's amazing. My picture is in the Photo gallery, I had the fuschia brocade fabric with velvet straps.

I am a MOBY mama. I've tried hotslings, front carriers and a few others between my 3 kids (one being 7 weeks now). I love my moby, it is kind of big, but he fits great there are so many holds, I can nurse and chase after my older two at the same time and it doesn't hurt my back or shoulders!

I've heard great things about maya, moby, and ergo. My personal favorite was a BabyHawk Mei Tai. I know people have/can nurse in them, but I never did, since I didn't even know about baby carriers until Luke was about 15 months old. :)

I had one that was just bought for me at Target and I hated it. It only worked when he was little and it was so much work to get him into. I also had a huge piece of fabric and directions for how to tie it around me, I much prefered that one. Next time, I will get one from etsy, a moby wrap most likely.

I bought a Baby Hawk (babyhawk.com) and LOVE it. It was pricey, but I got to customize it all and it was worth EVERY PENNY!
