at 6:30 in the morning, which just happens to be the sound of your 17 months old head hitting the hardwood floor as he climbed out of his crib!!!

As we speak, daddy's putting the brand new toddler bed together that we just got back from buying!!

Lord I gave birth to Evil Knievel!! :glare:

Ouch...my DS did that at about that age and got a broken arm out of the fall. We put a crib tent on his crib after that and will be putting it on DD's soon. nothing like a trip to the ER after something like that to make you cautious kwim?

oh, my DS also climbed out of his crib at about 11 months. I think my heart stopped when i heard the thud :( he got a bump on his head but was fine.
now at 2, he can hardly stay put and wants to climb into everything. he bumps and falls a lot, cries a bit then continues playing like nothing happened

oh ouch! hearing that thud must have made your heart skip a beat! glad he's OK ...and that he enjoys his new bed tonight :)

as my DD would say: Owie! We fortunately never had the climb out with her but we also converted the crib when she was 11 months so she never really had the chance!

Wes was exactly 17 months old when he bailed out of his crib and almost gve me a heart attack. Good with with transitioning to the big boy bed!

been there done that a few times...well i don't know about me personally...but each of my boys...but theirs was carpeted...so it didn't involve an actual injury! Yep toddler bed time!

Awwwww, poor guy ... I guess they all go through that "rite of passage" ... falling out of the crib. :(

Funny you should say that DH's comment was "Today my son because a man!!!" :D :D

Well I put him down about 10:45AM and there was some crying and some pounding on the doors and walls and some more crying...even a little bit of yelling involved  but all is quite in there now...wonder how long I should wait before I sneak in and snap a picture :p

Poor baby!!! My DD was a crib climber and we used a tent as well. There's nothing worse than that sound, is there? :(

owie... as my little one said when she bailed out of her crib at a way too early age... "I falled down"

hope the transition goes well :)

Oh the poor baby! Hope he's ok. And I hope you're ok, I can imagine the fright you got!

Have to sort out something here before DS (12mths) manages to get out. He can't stand yet, but loves to climb, so it's just a matter of time! I have a DD who is 2.5 and has never ever tried to climb out, so this is new for me....must be a boy thing :D

Oh my goodness!! Poor little guy (and poor momma!!). Ava is 18 months tomorrow and she is SUCH a climber! I'm actually surprised that she hasn't managed to get out of her crib yet... I think maybe today we will lower her crib to the last level just in case!!

I just want to add that the very first time DS climbed out of his crib was when he broke his little arm. It was a nightmare b/c he was so little he couldn't even tell us what was hurting kwim? It's just not worth the risk...if you've got a climber get a crib tent or switch to a toddler bed to be safe. I myself love the crib tent..after we put that on his crib he stayed in his crib contentedly to just before his 3rd b-day and by then he was old enough that the transition to a big boy bed was much easier for us.
