Garage Sale Thoughts?

Apparently DH and I are participating in a town-wide garage sale this upcoming weekend (I just found out about it, now I have to take all week to figure out what the heck to sell).

Anyway, we have like 300+ CDs that we don't listen to now that everything is digital...so I'm thinking of throwing them in there...they're all in good shape and everything (some of the cases are broken, but that's no biggie). Anyway, how much would you pay for CDs if you were interested in that sort of thing? I don't want to individually price them, lol...I was just going to throw them all in a box and say "CD's $3" or something like that.

We've got old VHS movies...and maybe a few DVDs to go as well. DH has some tools he wants to get rid of, the kids are sorting their toys (DH told them that they could keep the money they make from selling their toys...this is working well because I no longer have to try to sort them, lol...they'll decide for themselves what they don't want anymore).

Also, we have a V.Smile (with 2 controllers) and about 10 cartridges, I was thinking of putting it in there as a bundle for like $30...do you think that's too much/too little?

I'm SO not good at this stuff, lol...HELP!

Well... I can only tell you about my area and what I've seen... in USD...

CD's - between $1-2
VHS - between $0.50-1
DVDs - between $2-3
Games sets - between $25-35

We just had a garage sale. I didn't have CDs, but my sister did. She put $2 on them and I think one sold the whole day. She & I both had VHS... I had 50 cents on mine, she had $2. I definitely sold more, but she sold quite a few. So I think either would be fine. I put my vsmile in with one controller for $5. Then, I sold each game separately for $2. They sold super fast.

THis year the toys went sooooo fast! It was amazing! And I thought my sister had WAY over-priced them, but they were gone! Had I known, I would have put some toys out, too! lol

You got to price things to get rid of them and not to necessarily make a profit. I think you are fine on the game set $1 for CDs and DVDs (maybe $2 on new releases or coveted kid's videos). VHS $.50.

yep, what the ladies said. I just did a yard sale yesterday and surprisingly the toys did not sell as well as we had thought and they were marked low. I sold more clothes than anything else. I made $78 dollars mainly on clothes. I'll take it! All the left over stuff is being donated to a local family empowerment in our town and the nordic track is being dontated to goodwill on tuesday. that being said my spare room is MUCH cleaner minus 3 contractor bags full of clothes

We had the opposite happen, I priced my toys, etc higher than I thought I would get, and got rid of it all, with no haggling! I had a lot of bigger toys too, an exersaucer, etc.

The clothes I didn't have marked up much, and didn't get rid of as much of that as I wanted.

I sold my V Smile games for a buck each, and the controllers for a buck each. They all sold. I didn't have the console though, the kids beat it up LOL

yep these are really good prices for rural areas.

DVD's Id sell for between 2 and 3 dollars each. VHS about 50 cents. Not sure on the V-Smile. Id think 30 bucks would be fair though. Tools will likely sell well especially if they are from the higher priced manufacturers like Snap-On, Mac, Matco...and cd's depending on the singer I pay anywhere from 2-5 dollars a piece so 3 dollars would be fair. Of course there will likely be people who haggle on prices (my husbnd does this ALOT) and you can negotiate with them. Whatever happens good luck with the yard sale hope you make tons of money
