Yeah, I don't have one YET, lol...it's on my list of "someday I'll get one" though. :)

I'm planning on just getting the small 13" one (NOT the MacBook Air, though...it doesn't have enough power or anything to support digi, lol). I want the 17" Pro, but from looking at them in Best Buy, I've determined that the size is really the only difference. I think it's got a slightly better graphics card and one other upgrade, but I don't think it justifies the price jump.

LOL, at this point it's the little one or nothing, haha...

Heck, I even tried to get DH to use his tax return on the little one for me while I was in the hospital (seriously I was going CRAZY without a computer or internet)...he didn't bite but I think he was pretty close, haha.

LOL! Yes I do have a MacBook Pro!

Mine is just over a year old now so the specs aren't quite as spiffy as the ones they have now, but my advice is to get the best one that is in your price range, especially if you're planning to keep it for awhile.

I have the 15in model and I believe it was the top of the line one that you could buy standard. Looking at the current MBP specs, I'd say it's closest to the 2.8GHz one just with a slightly slower CPU and smaller hard drive. I don't think my DH did any additional upgrades through Apple (in case my face in the photo didn't give it away, it was a surprise gift LOL) but we did upgrade the memory from the 2GB it came with to the maximum of 4GB on our own. I recommend increasing the memory to the max but NOT through Apple - they'll charge you about double what it costs to do on your own and it's super super easy to do.

I've been happy with the 15in size and if I were to buy another one, that's the size I'd get. It's the right size for traveling and/or couch sitting. The only time I wish the screen was bigger is when I use InDesign but I don't think the difference between the 15 and the 17 would solve my problem. And lugging the 17in around would be a pain I'd think.

Not sure what else you want to know so if you have any other questions, just let me know.

I also have a 15" MacBook Pro, and I love it! Mine is a little more than 2 years old, so the new ones are much better - faster, more hard drive space, etc. I'm coveting one of the new ones for sure! I sometimes think I would love a 17", but I agree with Lynnette that it would probably be a lot to lug around. The 15" is a good size. The next one I buy, I hope to get the fastest processor they offer, and the biggest hard drive they offer. All this scrappy stuff can be stressful for a poor little computer!

I have a 15" MacBook Pro and LOVE it! Like others said, go with the best you can get in your budget. If I remember correctly (you might should ask one of the geniuses at the Apple store), the graphics card in the MacBook Pro is superior that that in the MacBooks and the iMacs.

Thanks girls! I think I'm going to have to make a trip to Best Buy (the only place remotely close to me that sells them!) and look at the 15" and 17" side by side... I'm pretty sure I want a 15", though - but not sure which one: the 2.66gHZ or the 2.8gHZ. Price difference is $200 and main differences are 320gig drive vs. 500gig drive and 256mg graphics memory vs. 512mg.

I've had my Titanium Powerbook G4 since 2002 with no problems, no glitches, no lockups - it has been a tank!! But I'm for sure ready to upgrade from my 800mHZ and 1G mem!! :p
