WW online?

Just wondering if anyone here has done Weight Watchers online? I've checked out the site and it seems like it would better fit my lifestyle but I just have so many questions starting off... there are a lot of recipes there that looks very easy and super yummy. But I think my main question would be if let's say a recipe for a cake is said to be worth 4 points, is that the whole cake or a slice of cake? I'm just wondering if the whole online thing would just be too confusing. They do have a forum though....

I'm doing WW myself right now. I did the WW at Work program a few years ago and decided to go back on myself with the support of a free forum rather than paying the WW fee.

If you want some good info on WW and want to read about real people going through the program and their success and struggles you can check out
Bootcamp Buddies. The people there are pretty nice and there are tons of free recipes and support. It's working for me so far - I'm down 20 lbs!

I don't have an online subscription to WW, but there are some topics about the online program in the Bootcamp forums and you can ask all sorts of questions.

As for the cake and point question - the recipe will say a cake is 12 servings and the points are for each serving of cake. There is also a part of the program called Simply Filling where you eat from a list of foods and you can have as much as will satisfy you (not stuff you). So there are essentially two options.

I count points and once you learn how to calculate out the points I find it's pretty easy as long as I can measure my food. Eatting out - isn't quite as easy but it's totally doable. Do a google search and I bet you'll find lots of info and free recipes to get you started. Personally if I was paying the money I'd rather go to the meeting so you get the WW info and someone to walk you through it personally so you get off on the right foot. Then you take it as far as you want from there.

I did WW online!!! I joined in March 08...lost weight and then joined the meetings when I was within 10 lbs of my goal so I could get lifetime status. I lost over 80 lbs total from September 07 (had my last baby on August 31, 2007) with the help of WW!!!! Some of that was lost before I started WW but was at a stand still and needed to do something about it!! I lost over 40 lbs with the help of WW and most of that was with WW online.

I LOVED doing it online. It was perfect for me and my lifestyle. I am thinking about getting e-tools again b/c I miss it. I do go to meetings once a month now for weigh in. I would like to go more but we are always so busy.

If you have any questions ask me!!

Kim, I'm seriously considering it! I will definetly have lots of questions if I do... Fun fact, my last baby was born the day after yours! Same year and everything! :) Thanks for the info girls!

I did ww online last year for a year and i LOVED it, i didn't get super involved in the forums, mostly because i am busy enough HERE :) but WW online was exactly what I needed to help me learn about how to eat better and stick to my goals.

I lost 40 pounds total. Got lower than even my goal weight (just because I think I didn't realize what I was capable of, I thought I was gonna have to settle with a "mom" body for forever LOL), I'm back down to what I weighed before kids, and have kept it off for almost a year now - I'm not subscribed anymore, but i love that I know its there and that I can sign back up anytime i feel like I'm slipping.

I really really recommend it, it's TOTALLY worth it!

GL :)!

I pay for the online access but haven't followed the program in about a year. I REALLY need to get back on it but I started doing a bootcamp at the gym and the trainer really wanted us to eat five to six times a day and use Calorie King or Spark People to track our foods. I lost 10 pounds but I got hurt and wasn't able to work out for about 4 months and have gained it all back.

Last week I started walking again - about 1-1/2 miles to start (in 20 minutes). Hopefully I'll get back up to the running that I was doing (about 4 miles a day) and lose this weight once and for all. I just know my key is to make sure that I exercise along with watching what I eat.

Oh and I have some really good WW recipes. If you're interested, let me know and I'll post them here.

I am currently using WW online...it better fits my lifestyle, plus they have a whole Men's section, which is something I always thought was missing when I did meetings a while back. The four points is most likely for a serving...I made a fat free cake this weekend, and it was 4pts a slice. I especially love keeping track of my points online. I can just type in the food I ate, like Baked lays, and it gives me the point value, and I can add it to my tracker. If I use a recipe from the site, I can add it to my tracker automatically, and I can put my own recipes together, and they figure out the points and add it to the tracker. I am loving it so far. I have been doing it for two weeks, and I have lost 14lbs so far.

Oh wow!!!! 14lbs in 2 weeks!!!! That's amazing!!!! You girls (and guy) are really inspiring me! I would love to see some recipes! Okay, I seriously think I'm going to do this... I think I'm going to sign up tonight!

www.dwlz.com is a great site for info too, lots of restaurant point lists and recipes.. there are also excel spreadsheets if you want to do it yourself without the weight watchers site (some people disagree with this type of thing as you aren't paying but still using their information). I have done WW in the past twice and was successful both times, I'm just not very successful on managing it and not going overboard.

Okay, I signed up... I'm feeling a little overwhelmed... I just don't know where to start or how to start planning my meals... how did you guys tackle this... eek!!!

YAY! i'm glad you signed up!

I started by first off getting some food in the house that was easy for me to eat and that i actually WANTED but that was good in the point dept (look at their shopping list for ideas).

That helped me as a first step, then meal planning seemed a bit easier to tackle. (maybe cause i wasn't starving LOL)

Yeah, Renee! I lost 20 lbs with WW online after my 2nd child was born, and I rejoined about 2 weeks ago. I love it!

IIRC, the first time I used WW Online I got started by plugging in some of my favorite/most eaten foods to see what the points values would be. For the first 2 weeks or so I planned out the entire day ahead of time and printed it.

It also helps to know how to figure out the points value of something so you can guesstimate when you're not at the computer. Every 50 calories gets a point, every 12g of fat gets a point, and you knock off 1 point if the food has 4 or more g of fiber. (Round for the calories and fat. No matter how many grams of fiber over 4 a food has, you still only get to deduct 1 point.)

Some examples:
100 calorie bag of popcorn with 4+ g fiber and 2 g fat=1 point
100 calorie serving of cheese with 9g fat and no fiber=3 points
100 calorie piece of bread with 1 g fat and 1 g fiber=2 points

Good luck!

I am also a WW Online member...I lost 35 lbs from January to April and have maintained that loss...I was just telling myself today that I need to start logging back on and using the tracker again. It's nice to take a break, but if the break gets too long, then you end up right back where you started, kwim?

I really like the tracker aspect of the online program and the access to all the recipes and tips. I haven't really gotten involved in the forum at all, but just reading what others are posting is helpful, too.

Good luck!

I started out the same way that Shawna and Rach just mentioned. Actually, the first few days I was not using all of my points, b/c I was being "too strict." I don't really "plan meals" I guess, I just really try to make sure the foods that I am eating are lower in point value. Tonight, however I will be making chicken parm from a WW recipe. I also have made the WW cheese fries, and they ROCK.

Cheese fries??? Someone needs to hook me up with that recipe!!! I tried the chicken fingers and they were a kit!!!

Ok, so the cheese fries...take four baking potatoes, cut them into thin strips. Spread them out on a sprayed cookie sheet in one layer, salt and pepper them. Put them in a 400d oven for 20min, then flip them and cook them for 20min longer. Take them out, sprinkle with 1/2 cup of reduced fat cheese, put them back in the oven for five until the cheese melts...enjoy.

I made them with Yukon Golds this week, and they were delicious.

I am a WW online member, but haven't been using it for a very, very long time. I just don't want to give up my membership and then have to pay extra the next time I feel motivated.

However, I joined WW online back in spring '05 and lost over 30lbs. in 4 months. It was amazing! I have never felt better. I was about 5lbs. away from my goal weight and heading out on a big (for me) trip...found out I was preggo with DS.

I haven't been able to get back on it. The motivation (kick in the butt) just isn't there. I want to (NEED to) and I know that I can...but it's easier for me just to eat what I want...it's comforting.

Every day I think about it and then I go to bed and think about it again the next day. Ugghh.

I would highly recommend it though! Good luck!! :D

And so, how many points are they? How many in a portion? Can't wait to try these! :)

Sorry for all the questions... but I looked it up and it doesn't say how many in a serving? Any idea?
