It is 12:20 here right now and we just had a loud knock on the door by someone we do not know. We live on the last street off a north south road. You can't really get lost on this road because all the east/west roads lead to the main road which runs north/south to the main highway. Some guy we dont know just knocked and said he was lost and needed to know how to get back to the main highway. My husband answered the door and he said he was acting kinda weird and looking all around the yard. Kinda worries me that he might come back or something

Odd. We've had people come knock on our door really late at night...both times they needed to use the phone. We've always let them, but outside, lol (we've got handheld phones)...never invited them in.

Ugh that is creepy. My husband works late. There's no way I'd answer the door at this time of night. I'd run hide in the kitchen with a knife. lol

My husband answered the door with the shotgun loaded but just out of sight. He may very well have been lost I guess if he isnt familiar with the area but it scared the crap outta me either way. Im just worried he is scouting for something easy to steal because he did not pull into the yard he parked in the street and walked up to our house and we are at the back of an acre of land so its not like we are just off the street. Maybe we are just the only ones around with lights still on though.

we called the police and they did a quick patrol of the neighborhood but it still does not make me feel any better. people are getting desperate because so many people around here are out of work. We have our well which is totally in the dark and it has about 2000 dollars worth of equipment on it not to mention that if they stole it and let the pipes drop it could ruin the whole well and we would have to pay like 4000 for a new one. Plus we have lawnmowers and weedeaters and other lawn maintenance stuff and my son has his weight equipment outside. Defenitely really nervous and a little worried. It just seems like he is scoping something out to steal. I didnt hear the name he gave my husband just that he said his name is Rueben. My husband was the one who told me once I called the police.

Ohhh and after he told my husband he was lost when he had the door closed when my husband opened the door the guy just kept saying he needed a light. Didnt have any ciggerettes though. Just really weird and creepy

I am glad you guys called the police. Maybe ask them to make a round again tonight. Maybe just their presence may make 'Reuben' think twice about doing anything unsavory. Oh, I am hoping you guys are ok!

everything seems to be ok outside and nobody messed around with the house so Im not sure what he was doing. The officer who responded seemed to think he might have been drunk or on some sort of drugs and didnt know who/where he was when he came up here last night.

Jessica something similar happened to my grandparents a couple of years ago..this guy knocked on their door about 5 pm and said he was out of gas and needed to make a call...which my grandparents being old school believed and let him use their phone...well he left and they didn't really think anything else about it but when they woke up the next morning their 4-wheeler had been stolen out of the garage. Apparently he was scoping out the place kwim? ...they did eventually catch him and he was arrested. Good thing you called the police..I would have been totally freaked.

Yea Nikki...the officer said he might have still been around and seeing him come might have been enough to say hey maybe find another house cause this isnt going to be as easy as I thought. Our yard though is really dark with no street lights on the street at all and there are parts of the yard where when you walk out there there is absolutely no way to see. We really need to get a couple lights up outside to light it up just a little. Although not sure how much good that would do because our house was broken into once when we were gone and they just shot the lights out with a bb/pellet gun

Oh my goodness. What a story. I hope you are all ok. If it were me I would definitely keep things locked today even if I were at home. (I had a friend who left her doors unlocked and people came in and stole stuff when they were in the house! That would have really freaked me out). Stay safe. It was good that you called the police.

Totally agree! My sister's house was broken into when it was just her and her infant son home- and they were asleep! She woke up and saw the guy running past her bed and heading toward the dining room (where the exit/entrance was)! Very scary stuff!

Stay safe!!!
