so, i'm just starting to experiment with actions in PSE...I've downloaded a few this morning & have used these directions to install:

Instructions for adding an Action to Photoshop Elements on a MAC

• Download the action and put on the desktop
• Within Finder click on the Hard drive icon
• Go to Library
• Then go to Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>Photo Creations>Photo Effects
• Drop the .atn and .png files in this location. Note: not all actions will come with a .png, this is okay
you’ll just need to know that the action will display with a blank box.
• Within Finder go to Library>Application Support>Adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>Locale>en_US.
• Rename the “MediaDatabase.db3” to something like “MediaDatabase_OLD.db3”.
• Close the Finder.
• Now open Adobe PSE 6.0.
• You should see a status box that says, “Building content & effects”
• After the update is complete you should find the actions on the Right side of the screen in the tool
box/bar. Go to Effects > Photo Effects and display all.

My question comes in at "Rename the “MediaDatabase.db3” Do you do this step EVERYTIME you add a new action?! I installed 2 successfully but my 3rd isn't showing up in PSE when I open it..(not doing the "building content & effects") I'm thinking that it all resorts back to this renaming the file step! anyone have any advice?!

I don't have a Mac, but whenever I install new actions, I have to go in and delete the mediadatabase file. I don't rename, I just delete it so it will build a new database. That's why I will wait and only install new actions every few months.... takes FOREVER to build content.

I don't have a Mac either but the instructions I have found say to just restart PSE6 and only delete the mediadatabase or the thumbsdatabase if a problem occurs!!!

hmm..well, when I installed the first 2, I just closed PSE & opened it back up & it just took like 20-30 seconds to build content...but like i said the 3rd one isn't showing up. I'm scared to delete the file? could that be why it takes so long to build your content?
