Anyone else...

Have problems deleting bad, out of focus, or blown pictures? I'm going through pics looking at them and 'KNOW' I should delete them, but can't. Anyone else have that problem or are you ok with hitting the delete button?

It depends. Some days I'm like "EW! DELETE! Get off my hard drive!!" and other times I'm like "dangit, I know I should get rid of you, but just can't!"

It's a struggle :p

I used to have that problem, but I'm ruthless now. If it's blurry, blown, anything not useable--it's gone. I don't have the space on my hard drive to keep those pictures.

I always think there will be something coming out in the future that will "fix that" problem... and I have been glad a few times because UNSHARP MASK has saved a few...and now some of the tricks I learned on Jessica Sprague's class helped too!

I will delete only the ones that are so blurry, I can hardly tell what they are, otherwise no, I keep them.

Same here! I know I should, but I'm always telling myself that it's better to have a bad picture than no picture at all. :(

I'm getting low on space on my HD, so I will not have a choice but to delete some, though... :p

See, I know I should delete, not only would it save space on my HD, I really don't think it's useable, but then I think, what if....
Like these, totally not useable, but how do you delete pics of your baby?

Angel I have the very same problem. They're completely not useable, but I still can't bring myself to delete pictures of my babies, lol!!

I can't bring myself to delete either. However, I will burn the crappy pics to disc and save them that way. Like Sharon said, maybe someday there will be a magic button that will fix them all. :)

You know, I was going through some boxes of old photos the other day while packing, and I can't believe how much image quality has improved just in the last 10 years or so. Back before we had a digital camera, most of our photos were just BAD and would be considered unusable. But they're really the only record I have of those memories, so I can't throw them away! I want to scan some of the better ones. They definitely wouldn't be great quality, but they do symbolize my memories nonetheless.

I cannot do it!! Like I have blown out photos and blurry photos and for the most part I keep them all. Changing to b/w does work for some of these photos and using other tricks in editing or creative cropping or even combining them with several other photos and making them smaller can take them from really bad to ok and when combined with journaling maybe they turn out to be great in the right layout.

I have no problem deleting!!! Like someone else said, "Once they're gone I don't miss them." I know its hard to do of your babies but then again I look at how many other pictures I've got of them and it's ok!!!

I don't delete any of my pictures.

I had a hardtime bringing myself to delete some of the 260 I took at the Brad Paisley concert, more than half were crap, but I didn't want to delete them. LOL!

As much as possible, I try to get rid of it from my camera itself. If there's nothing in there I can see from my camera's tiny viewer, then the picture should go and I can just snap another photo. But once it gets downloaded into my hard drive, there's no chance of it getting deleted.

I have to be having a really "strong" day or be freaking out about Hard drive space to delete any photo. I don't even want to talk about how many hybrid project photos I have on my EHD right now. I take about 5 for every one I use. I think I have more of those than actual pictures of my kids this year.

It depends on the photo, but sometimes I can use it to blend into the bg paper...I'll save it that way if I really like it!

you do know you aren't actually deleting your child, right?!?!? :D:D:D

:p

i have trouble sometimes too so i can't give you a hard time. LOL!

I feel your pain! I have sooo many photos of my kids that I've taken lately that are so stinkin' blurry! I get a great shot set up, but then they move and you see those funny streaks across the photo! lol! I can't get them to stay still! But I don't have the heart to delete blurry photos of them (even though I have hundreds that are just fine to make up for it!)

I'm actually in the process of using a blurry one I took of myself the other day...using a photo mask and blending it. Yes...it might look blurry...but that's the desired effect!! LOL!

Depends on HOW bad they are. If they look okay small, I will make a layout with them but have the picture really small on the LO. Some just obviously need to be deleted though and those I have no problem hitting the delete button.

It depends on how bad they are. Most of them I delete either in the camera itself or right after downloading. Some that seem more 'artistically blurry' I might keep, depending on my mood.
I've been scanning my grandmother's old photos. She had maybe 10 of her mom, about 100 of my mom. I have over 10,000 photos on SmugMug from the past 7 years alone. It wouldn't be a bad thing if I were more selective about what I am keeping.:)

I used to keep everything, but in my mission to simplify my life this year, one of the things on my list was to purge any pictures that just aren't usable. It's hard though. I do have two photos that I refuse to get rid of because they are of our best friend and son's godfather who was killed in 1998 and even though they are blurry, you can tell they are Dave.
