I know we ALL work, whether it's at home watching those kiddies or in an office somewhere or some combination of things. So, my question of the day is,

Where do you work and what kind of work do you do?

After working at home for 10 years as a lawyer for a big lawfirm, I recently changed jobs and now work in an office -- I'm in-house counsel for CVS Caremark. Love my new job and interaction with my co-workers, though some days I miss working from home!

I work at a university. As jobs go, it's a pretty good one - I get great vacation time benefits - but I'd really rather be home with my kids (at least part-time.) Alas, it's not an option for us right now.

all of the above :)

I am a Stay-At-Home-Mom---------------- stay at home days, work like crazy nights/weekends
I have a separate job that I do at home--- I'm a designer
I work outside the home------------------ I'm an assistant manager for a kid's clothes store

I'm a bridge engineer at an engineering consulting company. I mostly do work for the states of MD and PA.

I work outside the home. I am an attorney for the county. Sometimes I wish I could stay home with my kids more but other times I like my job. Maybe someday I'll find a compromise!

I'm a stay at home mom for now. It makes more sense money wise for me to stay home instead of spending my paycheck for daycare for 2.

I work part time out of the house in the mornings (9am-noon), as office secretary at a steel supply company, who sells & services all steel wearable parts to the 5 local coal mines in our area. I work Monday - Friday. I love my job, and the company I work for is awesome! Family comes first to everyone, so if I have a sick kid, or need to go to an appointment, whatever ... there is never a question of me taking time off. It's a small branch here, only three people (myself, the boss, and his nephew who is the warehouseman), although there are branches of our company across Canada.

When I am not working at ES/S, I am a stay at home mom.

The only reason I work the hours I work ... I don't have to pay daycare, as hubby works 2:30pm-11pm.

I stayed at home for 10 years and when my youngest dd went to K, I started teaching PE there part time. LOVE it. :)

I am a full time wife and mommy part time nurse in the ED. I try to pick up 1 or 2 shifts a week to get out of the house, keep my skills up and make some $$$ to add the savings/play funds. I usually work in the evening or on weekends so the kids don't have to do daycare .

I'm an other. Up until 3 months ago, I was a manager at a large insurance company. There was an economy-driven restructuring that led to my position being eliminated (all jobs in my job band were eliminated) and several other managers were RIF'd. So, right now I'm between jobs. Normally I'm a WOHM, I'm currently a SAHM.

I am a stay at home mom of 2. I work from home while they're napping :) (I design & have my own digital scrapbook store so I work on that when the kids are sleeping)

I'm a Physician Contractor for a large national insurance company. My job (believe it or not) is to make sure that our Primary Care Physician groups make money. I also get to negotiate rates with specialists and laugh when they tell what kind of rates they want to get paid. It's actually a pretty cool job with low stress on most days.

i am the compliance office assistant for my dads stock brokerage. :) it's busy but it's nice cause i work for "dear old dad" so it's flexible at the same time. :)

I work outside the home in Marketing/Design for a privately owned regulatory & compliance company. I love my job but I secretely wish that I could be a stay at home mom.

I'm the executive legal secretary for the managing partner of our lawfirm in Sacramento.

However, I have a couple of leads that may get me the heck out of here! I'm sick and tired of work comp. ;)

I work part-time (3 days/week) as a Physical Therapist at Kaiser Permanente, mostly Outpatient Orthopedics with a side specialty in lumbar spine disorders. I don't love it, but as long as we live on Maui (which is CRAZY expensive) I'm gonna have to work. And if I gotta work, Kaiser is a pretty AWESOME place to work. But I keep telling my husband that *next time* I'm marrying for money!!! LOL.

I am a SAHM by day and work part time in the evenings when DH is home to watch the kids.

I taught for 9 years but "retired" when I was pregnant with my 3 year. I told DH I WOULD stay home if we had more children. I only took this part time job so I could get out of the house a few hours here and there and have a little extra spending money. I currently work 3 nights a week but that will change to 4 evenings when it gets closer to the holidays.

Deciding to stay home has been tough mentally...even though it was my decision. I have struggled becoming "just a mom" and no longer being a teacher.

SAHM here... I worked as a corporate computer trainer and instructional documenation designer.. then a resource manager for my department for 10 years in a Fortune 100 company... LOVED that job but I left that job to stay home with my twink... I would like to be able to start up a business of S4Os and teaching how to digi scrapbook, but I'm struggling getting it going...

I work full time in Marketing for a lage company. My department sells engine-parts, power supplies and electrical systems for ships - exciting stuffs;) I like it though, even though I think I eventually want to move to a more consumer oriented company rather than B2B

i work at home - Medical Transcription...usually work 4 hours in the morning and a SAHM the rest of the time.

After being a SAHM for a year, I recently returned to workforce as a personal banker. It was a totaly career change for me from my past job, but I love it!

I am loving these questions and the answers they provoke.

Col - I would never have you as a bridge engineer, if I'd had to guess I would say something arty or a teacher :)

I work full time as a teacher in a special school for children with profound and severe learning difficulties and severe Autism. I adore my job and love the kids I teach. It's stressful and emotionally challenging, I get beat up and physically hurt, covered in snot and worse. Between the hours of 8:45 and 3:30 I am a Mummy, teacher, nurse, physio, OT, speech therapist, bus driver but best of all I am a friend and I wouldn't swap it for anything.

I am a SAHM but I do different work from home jobs - grading tests, customer service, data entry, making custom crochet items, etc from time to time. Now that both boys are in school all day I am looking for a more regular work from home gig.
