Crafty stuff for teens?

A niece that I haven't seen for a few years will be in town next week (she's 14). I would like to do some kind of craft stuff with her but am at a loss as to what. I would have my little girls (3 & 5yrs) and would do some easy version for them. Anyone have any fun ideas?
 
My daughter(17) loves doing those glass ornaments where you have little crystal bead things and a metal ornament and you fill in the different sections of the ornament with the crystal stuff and then cook it in the oven and the crystals melt and adhere to the metal. I cannot remember what they are called though. I bought her a bunch at walmart.

She likes bracelets too...friendship bracelets or just cute little beaded bracelets which would be good for little kids too.
 
That scarf is soo cute! Does it get cold enough for a scarf in the Los Angeles area?

I do have lots of beading stuff so that's a good idea. Keep the idea's coming! :)
 
I second bracelets my 11 year old and all her friends are in to making them with GIMP. You can buy a starter set at JoAnn's for like $5 bucks. And we were just at the dollar tree a dew days ago and they had huge refill packs!!!! They also love making bracelets (key chains too) out of embroidery floss!!! Iron-on T-shirts are popular with my nieces - the little ones can help design their own and the older one can help with the ironing.
 
how fun that you wanna craft with them while the visit! they will love that! and it totally gets cool enough for a nice scarf in LA. it gets down to the mid-40's easily in the winter. :)
 
Good to know that it does get chilly in LA! lol

I do have some iron-on transfer paper somewhere- will keep that one in mind too!
 
I was thinking beading or jewelry! My little ones love just stringing beads, but perhaps she'd go for a little bit of a more "grown up" version with different beads or something?
 
My girl loves to spray paint T-shirts. You just buy white Ts and regular spray paint and then let them use stickers, paper die cuts, anything to make stencils. Lay the shirts flat, lay the stencils on, and spray a little at a time to build up color.
Fun and cheap and way cleaner than tie-dying! Here's a pic of this project from a summer camp. (The girls are playing a game called Ninja, that's why they are posed so strangely, lol)
