My grandmother passed away a couple of hours ago. It wasn't sudden..she had end stage COPD and has been on hospice care for about 2 years now..she took a turn for the worse this week. She was in the hospital and refused oxygen or any meds other than morphine because she was just ready to go. We actually spent the entire day at her bedside yesterday saying goodbyes - it was a surreal day, laughing and crying at the same time..she was cracking jokes right up til the end. Anyway, my mom called a couple of hours ago to let us know she passed..she had been unresponsive most of the day. I'm just waiting on my sister to get back and then we're heading over to my parents' house. On top of that Brian is in bed with a kidney stone so I'm dealing with him too. I haven't had much sleep at all the past few days..I'm just really really drained kwim? But I know she's at peace now and no longer in pain, and I know I'll see her again one day. My mother said she had a very peaceful passing which makes me feel better.
