I need to disinfect

Max puked all over his bed last night, four pillows, three blankets and the mattress. I washed the sheets & blankets, but I am not sure what to do about the mattress and pillows.

I am thinking about making a bleach solution and spraying them down {lightly} and letting them dry in the sun.

What do you think?

pillows might be washable. They should have a label on them to say whether it is safe to put them in the washer. I wouldnt use bleach if it was me.

I either put the pillows in the washer, or throw them out if they're really nasty.

I'd wash the pillows...do you have a mattress pad?

I think if you disinfect it good then let it dry in the sun...the baking in the sun should take care of the rest of any bacteria that might be hanging around....

I had another thought about the mattress. What about one of those steam cleaners you can rent? We did our mattresses with them before, and they worked well.

Yep, I wash pillows all the time. My son has a pillow that is like his "blankie" so I have to wash it or it gets gross from being drug around the house all the time!

I think Jamie's idea to steam the mattress is a good one too... I might have to try that myself!

What about Lysol spray? The sun is a great idea too.

I say wash the pillows to...that is what I do or I just throw them away...I like the idea of Lysol spray or a steam cleaner {I need to try this!}

I've used oxy carpet cleaner on a mattress stain that went thru the mattress pad.

yes...we have just been going through this on the bed, pillows, couch, carpet and rugs...ugh!!!!!! But yeah..I would wash the pillows and I used a disinfecting fabric cleaner on the floors and couch.

Thanks for the tips, girls. I skipped the bleach and let the sun do its job.
