Asking for Prayers

Today we experienced the worst ever rainfall to hit us in 20 yrs. Our main city, Manila is underwater and experts say that it wont let up in the next 12 hrs. If it wont stop, Im afraid our metro city will be erased from the map.

Katrina dumped 1" of rain in 3 hrs & another 0.5" per hr over next 5 hrs. Ondoy (our typhoon) dumped average of 2.24" per hr for 1st 6 hrs.

What is so sad is our govt is so ill equipped with these situations. Most families, even affluent ones, are on roofs waiting to be rescued 13 hrs ago Its already midnight here and rescuers cant even go to where they are :(

here is a sample video:

Please pray for us! We are safe uplands but most of my friends and family are down there :(

so sorry to hear that!! I do remember how bad some of the storms have been that have hit the US and how scary it can be. I hope the rain ends really soon there and the water dries up quickly.

Oh wow, Aggie..the memories that brings back of watching people deal with Katrina! I hadn't even heard about this (we don't do a lot of news and haven't been watching Weather Channel recently). We'll definitely be praying!!!!

OMG! I know exactly what you are talking about. This year is we had same issues on north of our country and this is sad. Millions of people without energy, food, water... I'll be praying for you. Stay Safe!

Aggie, I'm really praying hard for our countrymen. I have family in Sta. Cruz near the Chinese General Hospital, where you get waist-deep water with just a light drizzle. My mom says they're completely submerged, and I'm worried for my cousins, who are all younger than 10 years old, and living in that area. :(

I really hope the floods recede soon.

How scary! I hadn't heard anything as I haven't watched or read the news in a while. I hope everyone is ok.

I didn't realize you were in the Philippines...

Prayers for all you girls and your families! I've been trying to follow the story on the internet.

Oh, Aggie, I had no idea it was so bad. We're getting non stop rain here, so I just thought there must be a typhoon in the Philippines. I had no idea it was the worst rain in 20 years. :( We love Manila and will be praying for the people there as well as the leaders.

Thinking of you and everyone going through this terrible event...please stay safe, Aggie. Keep us posted when you can...((HUGS))

Thank you for your prayers, girls! (Aggie, thanks for this thread! Glad to know you and your family are okay!) Like Aggie I live upland so all I've had to deal with are minor leaks. A good friend of mine was rescued from her roof at midnight last night. She is at another friend's right now while her parents are in the hospital for treatment. There are still people stranded and without water or food though. :(

While the typhoon has left the country, our weather bureau still expects more rainfall. Please pray skies are clear and the waters receded so rescue and relief operations can continue. Thank you!

oh, i just got back from my long vacation for hari raya and didn't realize about what happened in manila. In Indonesia is still dry season here. I'm sending prayers for your families, hope everything is OK.

Thank you for thoughts and prayers.
The storm has left already but the city is devastated. Devastated is actually an understatement. But people are helping in and the response is overwhelming and very very touching.

More updates and pictures here, there are gruesome photos, sorry:
