PMS and eating??

Im curious about something. Ive noticed right before my period I start eating ALOT and I feel like Im not full at all. This is for like one week out of the month. During the rest of the month I eat small portions and Im full after a small amount (like for instance one slice of pizza or a bowl of cereal). I also crave salty foods way more during that time period. Do you experience this? Anything youve found to help? I feel like I gain 10 pounds right before my period which is a pain cause Im trying to lose weight and got down under 160 pounds for the first time in awhile but when I weighed myself the other day I was back up to 165

I just wanted to sympathize with you. I don't have any tips for ya, but I definitely go through the same thing. It's not even a certain craving, it's just that I want tons of food!

I go through it a couple of days before mine starts.

But remember, you weight can fluctuate due to how much water you're retaining, if you've had a BM recently (yeah - gross, but true), if you ate before you weighed, etc. A few lbs back and forth shouldn't be a cause for great concern. So don't get discouraged! Just keep working at it!!

Yep the exact same thing for me, and I mean exactly ususally I get full off of small amounts of food but right before my period I can't seem to get full and Lays potato chips are my best friend, till I step on the scales that is.

I hear ya! I have read that your metabolism burns an extra 300 calories a day near your period...of course that is a drop in the bucket compared to my PMS eating! I agree with Darcy about the weight fluctuation. If you eat salty foods, you can retain water and gain 5 pounds over night, but it will disappear in a day or two. I refuse to weight myself after eating out somewhere or if I have processed foods for that exact reason.

I seem to crave a good steak (I think maybe my iron level is dipping low?) and chocolate during mine. ...but maybe mine is different right now because I just started having them after MANY years on the depoprevera shots...I know they aren't regular yet so I don't know when to expect them.

Ugh yes I am really bad! I go through this every month. It starts with feeling like I am starving then it goes to alternating eating salty and then sugary all within mins of consuming one or the other and its a vicious cycle! I hate it and wish I had some advice on how to stop it but I don't. If you do find something that works I am sure we all would love to give it a try.

I don't notice a change in my eating, but I do notice a big change in my water retention. I always feel so bloated.

I'm the exact same way! I've found that since I'm aware of it, I'm more able to curb the cravings before AF starts by not just giving into them. I also really try to drink more water and that does help some.

HUGS!
