Frustration w/ Mozy

I will admit to having been a Mozy evangelist, until it stopped working properly.

I thought I had the little devil all figured out - and that I could easily remind it to back up my EHD (after having it unplugged) - but it doesn't seem to want to be reminded. Its giving me the cold shoulder and telling me it only wants to backup my regular HD.

Any tips??

I've emailed customer support and have a real person's email address as well, but I was wondering if anyone knows the secret. Do you use Backup Sets, Files & Folders or both?

For reference, I'm using MozyHome on a Mac.

I am not sure. I use Mozy, but honestly have never had to recover any lost or corrupt files since I started with them. It is always my luck when I don't have a backup service my harddrive crashes and when I do have a backup system in place everything is hunky-dory. I hope you get it figured out.

I usually don't change my back-up set at all -- just have it set always to back up my main HD and my EHD. On those few occasions where I've left my EHD unplugged, it did have to start over again with backing the whole EHD up, but it did it on it's own -- I didn't have to change anything.

Yeah, I've noticed it's not backing up my EHD lately either. I have no solutions, but wanted to say thanks for the reminder to go in and change my settings so it will back up the EHD.

Previously I've been able to just toggle it off and back on to get it to "see" the drive... but it looks like there has been an update and its not working properly.

There use to be 3 statuses of a folder - nothing, gray minus sign and green check. Now there is a red x too - which I had never seen before.

okay, I thought it was just me! I now have the red x on things that it hasn't backed up yet and the green check on the ones that it has. My backup is all caught up and just updates every night with the new things that I've designed and it's cool to see the items that I designed yesterday go from that red x to having that happy green check overnight. I'd never had that feature before. Just in the last few days actually.

Sorry about the problem with the EHD. I don't have it backing up my EHD so I'm no help.
